Brophy at Basha: Freshman Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Friday January 12th I attended the 6A <strong>Brophy Broncos </strong>at <strong>Basha Bears </strong>freshman game. Both teams were undefeated and after a 4 point Basha 1st quarter lead, the game was close throughout until finally a mini run by Brophy led by [player_tooltip player_id='2297438' first='Oliver' last='Burbach'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2297439' first='Donovan' last='McNabb'] with 20 points each. <strong>Brophy Prep won 57-56</strong>. Basha was led by [player_tooltip player_id='1893666' first='Griffey' last='Williams'] with 24 points unofficially.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were some of the standouts</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2297438' first='Oliver' last='Burbach'] Brophy Prep&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the top shooters in the class had four triples including a 4-point play. He has a pure stroke from the three and can take it to the rim and score thru contact. He rebounds well despite his size and collects steals. He also is a good up the court passer.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1873694' first='Tyrese' last='Holmes'] Brophy Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A versatile wing forward is a tough cover. He will blow by his defenders in traffic. He knows how to hesitate and take long strides to the basket. He handles the contact well and often finds his way to the FT line. He is a<strong> </strong>really good rebounder with a motor and can defend multiple positions.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2297439' first='Donovan' last='McNabb'] Brophy Prep (Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A hyper athletic guard has that football frame to absorb contact. His downhill game is a problem. It is hard to stay in front of him and can euro step to the basket. He has great body control in the air and he can shoot it. He will fall away, pull-up from mid-range and even hit the catch three. He skies super high for rebounds and brings real athleticism to the court. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2320360' first='Dre' last='Either'] Brophy Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A decent sized wing forward has nice family lineage with a pro baseball father. He is active on defense and will rebound in and out of his area as a perfect glue guy for the team. He also has a nice three point stroke off the catch.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1893666' first='Griffey' last='Williams'] Basha</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A catch and shoot three point gunner who can pull-up from mid-range. He has a sweet shooting stroke off the 1-2 dribble or catch. He has a nice crossover and he can pass it up the court. He had a monster game to almost pull out the victory.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2320421' first='DJ' last='Detrizio'] Basha</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A true athlete is a shifty point guard who gets downhill well to the basket he is a next level passer and a great rebounder using his bounce and sturdy frame.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2320419' first='Rees' last='Jones'] Basha</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring guard who is a mid-range king. He can fall away from mid-range and rebounds well with a quick second jump. He is deceptively fast to get to the basket. He rebounds well with stocky frame and is competitive to block shots inside.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2320420' first='Blake' last='Roberts'] Basha</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A thicker framed power forward who scores thru contact. He flashes to the basket for points and has great hands to rebound and will go straight up to score and block shots.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
