Friday night PHI took in a Catholic League clash between rivals St. Ignatius and De La Salle. This was the second meeting on the Wolfpack home floor this season after De La Salle won in the Iggy Thanksgiving Tournament back in November. Early on it was looking like St. Ignatius was going to prevail with their balanced scoring and defense leading at the half. De La Salle flipped the switch in the second half behind their perimeter scoring capping it off with a steal and jam to win at 62-58. Here are our 5 Takeaways: De La Salle vs St. Ignatius!

Lindsey has Monster 2nd Half to Lead Meteors

The biggest reason De La Salle won this one was the play of 2024 shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1285485' first='Richard' last='Lindsey'] in the second half. After a quiet first two quarters he completely took over the game scoring the majority of his game high 23 points in the second half. Physical slashes with his strong and athletic frame where he finished well around the hoop. Mixed in a couple threes and a pair of mid-range jumpers. Lindsey needs to be getting significant attention at the D2 level!

Lot of Quality Unsigned Seniors

Speaking of uncommitted 2024s there were quite a few good ones in this game. In addition to Lindsey the Meteors boast another highly ranked wing in Tavariyaun Williams. Big and athletic wing that can score from all three levels. Looked good early in this one splashing in a pair of feathery threes. Didn't do much offensively the rest of the night, but got the big stop late on a steal and jam to win the game while scoring 9 points. Low-majors and D2s should be all over Williams late in the process because of his upside as a two way wing with size. Power forward [player_tooltip player_id='1978578' first='Alioune' last='Mbaye'] is a skilled and athletic four that stretches hitting a mid-range jumper and three while impacting on the glass for 7 points. For St. Ignatius their 2024 shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1285517' first='Reggie' last='Ray'] brings slashing from the perimeter. Athletic and compact guard that gets in the lane off the bounce finishing with acrobatics notching 13 points in this one.

2026 Trio to Track

Three 2026 prospects to watch in this one. De La Salle small forward Charles Barnes is a rangy three man that shot it well off the catch from three, got in passing lanes for scores at the other end, and overall impacted defensively while scoring 12 points. Also on his side sophomore point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1845364' first='Morgan' last='Travis'] shows flashes pushing, getting others involved, and hit a pair of jumpers for 6 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2323283' first='Chris' last='Bolte'] is a stretch four that has been a great addition for Iggy. Toughness as a post defender and rebounder with the ability to drain threes as he hit a trio for 9 points.

Up and Down Night for Top Junior Gill

The #1 junior in the state had an up and down night. St. Ignatius star [player_tooltip player_id='1385292' first='Phoenix' last='Gill'] scored 13 points with a handful of rebounds and dimes. Didn't shoot it particularly well in this one with the jumper only hitting one 15 foot pull up. Several slick takes off the bounce for scores including a coast to coast one early and one where he got a bucket off a steal to cut the Meteors lead down late.
