It was a very competitive game that featured back and forth action during the fourth quarter. There were a number of key breakout performers and we’ll recap the action here with 3 takeaways.
Jason Stokes Jason Stokes 6'3" | SG MICDS | 2026 State MO was a breakout 2026.
Stokes won tournament MVP and displayed a ton of potential as a long & lanky guard in 2026. He has a smooth jump shot and gets open looks due to a quick release and great elevation. The sophomore has long arms, plays with a high basketball IQ, and made an overall major impact on winning in this one. He has progressed well this season and went from a depth piece to key starter in just 8 months. Stokes has all the tools to be a great varsity player and put it together this week. He was the biggest storyline as far as individual prospects go.
Rock Bridge showed good fight in the 2nd half.
The Rock Bridge staff made proper adjustments and caused problems for MICDS with their zone defense and offensive answers. This is a team with shooters all over the floor, however, it was Reese Minnix Reese Minnix 6'7" | SF Rock Bridge | 2025 State MO who added a much needed spark. The 6’7 forward was doing a little bit of everything as they cut the lead down and even led at one point during the 4th quarter. He’s a traditional post with good touch around the rim. Minnix opened things up for shooters such as Josue Muhirwa during the comeback. Speaking of Muhirwa, he was a player that really impressed as well. His speed and control of the offense was impressive. A 2025 guard that Rock Bridge can build around next season.
MICDS has phenomenal guard play.
Guard play wins games in high school and Travis Wallace has a host of them. Jayden Banks Jayden Banks 5'10" | PG MICDS | 2024 State MO , Brandon Clemens, Jason Stokes Jason Stokes 6'3" | SG MICDS | 2026 State MO (previously mentioned), and Keshon Mims were all playing well in this game. They each bring something different to the table and give a ton of defensive versatility on the perimeter. Banks is the lone senior and controls offense with his calm demeanor. The other three are all Class of 2026 and will be fun to watch progress over their final two seasons. Clemens was a top scorer in the contest and had 19 points late in the fourth quarter at the last time of checking.
