As usual, the WNIT took place the first weekend of the season and this year it featured some of 5A's best. We had the opportunity to soak in some action all three days including most of the championship side of the bracket, where Wilsonville kept the title at home with a 62-54 win over upstart North Marion who should be one of the top challengers in 4A. There were a number of guys that were previously unknown or underappreciated by us that caught our eye - here's a look at some of them:

Caiden Gould (2024 North Eugene)

Linfield baseball commit is a classic "hustle" guy for the Highlanders. Got a number of tough rebounds and got rewarded for running the floor with some easy points in transition.

Elias McKinnis (2024 North Eugene)

Senior guard (pictured) is known as a shooter and certainly knocked down shots off the catch-and-shoot. Didn't just stand around and wait for kickouts though as he helped on the boards and made the extra pass that often led to the assist.

[player_tooltip player_id='1726569' first='Ian' last='Pearson'] (2025 Redmond)

May have been small in stature but there no fear in this young point guard's game as he took on anyone in the tournament. Used his strength to get to the basket and finish and was always surveying the defense looking for guys cutting to the basket before trying to do anything for himself.

[player_tooltip player_id='1775432' first='Jack' last='Snyder'] (2025 Redmond)

Well-built wing showed off a really nice shooting stroke, whether it was setting up shop from three or using a couple of dribbles for the pull-up. Had the strength and confidence to shoot over and through defenders as many of his shots were well contested.

[player_tooltip player_id='2348779' first='JoJo' last='Harrower'] (2024 Ashland)

Long and lanky post player showed great motor on both sides of the ball. Really battled on the boards against bigger players and was particularly active on the offensive glass. Good finisher around the hoop.

[player_tooltip player_id='1110844' first='Nick' last='Colyer'] (2024 Wilsonville)

Previously a defensive specialist, has shifted over to the point guard spot vacated by Maxim Wu and runs the offense well. Largely played turnover free, made good decisions in transition, and picked his own spots offensively, finishing well around the hoop.

[player_tooltip player_id='2348760' first='Emmett' last='Fee'] (2025 Wilsonville)

Returning starter with a strong and sturdy frame who's more than happy enough to rebound and defend and get the occasional bucket or two. Showed off some improved post moves on the offensive end and ran the floor pretty well.

Jacob Boss (2025 Wilsonville)

Young wing with some length showed some potential during the tournament. Shoots the ball pretty well when open and displayed the ability to put the ball on the floor a little and create. Has the potential to be a good defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='2324150' first='Ezra' last='Carter'] (2024 Wilsonville)

Senior forward with some strength and athleticism who really helped out on the boards. Should improve offensively as the season progresses and will be a key guy in the frontcourt rotation.
