Week 4 Top Performers: Big School

Lots of big game opportunities for the state's top big school players. As we creep into 2024 the top billed players are not only living up to the hype, but we also have some rising players that are starting to open eyes. Recruiting will start to pick up serious steam in January and some of these guys are hitting their stride accordingly. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block u0022Gu0022 Cross is a new comer to the WV recruiting world, but not for long.  Cross has posted monster numbers against more than formidable opponents.  In his first six games posting scoring totals of: 35, 31, 35, 25, 42, 41 and most recently scoring 27 of Weir's 40 as well as surpassing 1000 points for his career.  Most of WV have yet to hear that name, but it looks like he'll be a regular in our top performers category for the remainder of the necessary for CM to be successful.  Playing a really athletic and talented Teays Valley team that boasts multiple college prospects, Hughes posted 22 points and 6 rebounds.  Impressive for a sophomore guard in WV's 4A WV with TVCS.  Blackburn continues to churn out impressive numbers and stay on recruiting and a steal vs  Westside and followed that up with a 20 point, 3 rebound, 2 assist performance vs single A favorite Tug Valley.  Meddings if you haven't seen him is a high percentage shooter and complete guard with every Princeton putting up 29 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal against a talented roster.  Robertson is already one of WV's top 2025 prospects and has great size and athleticism for an underclassman guard.  Look for his offers to be more frequent dunks!  Kellum is quickly becoming a hot recruiting commodity due to his down hill play, length and athletic ability.  Safe to say MEC schools will offer by the end of the year, but BlueChips Nation has told us that some lower level D1's have him on their watchlist as standout two sport athlete in WV's top divisions is capable of overwhelming any defender in front of him and vs Princeton he did just that.  Posting a double double including 19 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal and 1 block, Adkins is lighting it up so far this year.  Averaging 15/6 per game Tate's most impressive stat is shooting 47% from athleticism and his dynamic offensive skill set.  Thomas seems willing to do whatever is needed outside the paint or in it.  Thomas put up 21pt,11rb,8ast,6blk, 2stl vs Capital on 12/27, 20pt, 8rb, 5ast, 4blk vs Spring Valley on 12/28 and finally followed that up with a dazzling 18pt, 10blk, 7rb, 7ast, 2stl vs. #1 and defending champion Morgantown, leading Spring Mills to a victory.  I think we might be seeing the emergence of possibly the top 2025 player in [player_tooltip player_id='2208821' first='Caleb' last='Thomas'] in the best of ways.  We saw Smith this fall at Anderson Court and was absolutely blown away by his shooting and scoring and with his length on the wing.  Smith will dazzle anyone who gets to see him for the first time.  Smith posted huge numbers in big wins last week including:  25pt-5rb-2stl vs Capital in a win, 20pt-2rb in a win over Spring Valley and 25pt-2rb-1stl in a victory over #1 and defending champ Morgantown.  Smith will draw recruiting attention very
