Heading into their sophomore year, this list is still new and while we did our best we know things will change a lot as players continue to grow and develop moving forward.
Here’s a look at the top 5 shooting guards and small forwards in the rankings.
5) Kyren Oglesby | 6’4” SG | Handley (#20 Overall)
Oglesby is an up and coming prospect to keep an eye on in the Winchester area, as he has a lot of tools that are promising moving forward and has steadily put up numbers throughout his early career. At 6’4” he already has an impressive frame with good upper body strength and is a good athlete who can get up and down and get to the rim with ease where he’s an excellent finisher through traffic. He gets to his spots in the midrange and scores it efficiently, he gives good effort on the defensive end and he’s a very good rebounder for his position too.
4) Zaevion Cleveland Zaevion Cleveland 6'4" | SF Landstown | 2026 State VA | 6’4” SF | Landstown (13 Overall)
Whether it’s basketball or football that he ends up choosing to pursue, Cleveland has a very bright future as he’s a top tier athlete who is only starting to scratch the surface with how good he can be moving forward. At 6’4” he is able to play above the rim effortlessly whether it’s in transition, catching lobs on set plays or attacking the offensive glass for put-backs as well. He’s a versatile defender who can guard multiple positions and use his athleticism to make plays, and he’s steadily improving his ball skills as well.
3) Isaiah Brown Isaiah Brown 6'0" | SG Westfield | 2026 State VA | 6’1” SG | Westfield (#12 Overall)
Brown is part of a talented young Westfield group that will be a tough matchup this year and for years to come, and after an impressive freshman season he has already had a good start to his sophomore campaign as well. The 6’1” two guard has something that is very impressive for a player his age, and that’s the ability to create and make tough shots from all over the floor both with the ball in his hands and working off the ball. He has great range from deep already and sets his feet quickly to make shots on the move, he can create separation in the midrange and from deep to get his shot off and he is a strong and crafty finisher around the rim too.
2) Deshawn Spellman Deshawn Spellman 6'6" | SF Landstown | 2026 State VA | 6’7” SF | Landstown (#5 Overall)
When it comes to high upside wigs in the class, Spellman sticks out already and with his blazing start to his sophomore season it won’t be long before he starts to see college coaches flooding the gym to see him. He has the prototypical size that D1 coaches are looking for standing 6’7” with long arms and a frame that should fill out nicely, and he has the most important tool that coaches are looking for and that’s the ability to knock down shots from deep consistently. He is a driller from deep who doesn’t need much space with his size to get his shot off, he can attack closeouts and handle in transition to get to the rim for easy finishes and as he continues to develop he has tons of upside as a versatile defender who can guard multiple positions.
1) Quincy Wadley Quincy Wadley 6'5" | SF Bishop O'Connell | 2026 State VA | 6’4” SG | Bishop O’Connell (#3 Overall)
Wadley is one of a number of VA players who are already nationally ranked in the 2026 class, with an impressive resume that includes First Team All WCAC as a freshman, USA basketball invites and he was the leader of a talented Team Takeover 16U squad he was playing up on. This year, he’ll be playing for a nationally ranked team where he won’t be the first option, but he’ll still be able to make a big impact and it will set him up to take the reigns moving forward. The 6’4” off guard has a lot of tools that make him very impressive, including his confidence as a shot maker and as a playmaker as well. He’s an unselfish player who competes on both ends and finds his teammates when they’re open, he’s a knock down shooter from deep and he can make contested shots in the midrange and he has confidence that you won’t find in many players his age.
