In an exciting pre-Christmas matchup, Naperville North (7-4) hosted #10 Benet (10-0). In the opening half, it was the Huskies who took control with a 25-15 lead after the break. But Benet bounced back in the third quarter with a 10-2 run. The game eventually went to OT where the Redwings held on for a 47-44 win. Here's a look at my top standouts from the game.

Purdue football commit [player_tooltip player_id='1157239' first='Luke' last='Williams'] had the hot hand early. Finished with 12 first half points while draining a pair of contested threes. As the game went on, he showed terrific court awareness while continuing to find the bucket. Has very long strides when attacking the rim which definitely played to his advantage. Finished with 22 points

[player_tooltip player_id='1295542' first='Bryce' last='Welch'] - Naperville North 2024

A silky ball-handler who did bits of everything this afternoon. He impressed defensively with his footwork and brought plenty of energy offensively in the early stages. A very confident shooter who showed his potential to make plays attacking the basket.

Max Steele - Naperville North 2026

A new name for me. He's a smaller point guard but has tons of room to grow. He hit a pair of big three's late in the contest. Expect Steele to play a bigger role for the Huskies over the next couple years.

[player_tooltip player_id='2105376' first='Colin' last='Stack'] - Benet 2026

Stack continues to show plenty of upside. Displayed nice footwork in the paint with a smooth touch around the rim. His 7'0" size gives him so a huge advantage down low. A dunk in the final seconds sealed the win in OT.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552393' first='Gabriel' last='Sularski'] - Benet 2026

This was the first time in a while I watched him closely. It wasn't his best showing in the opening half. But Sularski was huge in the second frame. He started the second half flying down the lane for a putback finish and hit shots in numerous areas on the floor. But I was really impressed with his transition speed as he's one of the fastest players I've watched with his size. Finished the game with 12 points.
