Hansberry scored the victory 57-49. Time to look at the Top Performers: Hansberry vs Manley!
Al Brooks Al Brooks 6'6" | SF Hansberry | 2025 State #239 Nation IL Jr (Hansberry – 2025)
Brooks stuffed the stat sheet in this game like he always does. The ultra versatile 6’6” small forward is so smooth and productive game in and game out. He got on the offensive glass early for a put back. Elite second jump off the ground for second chance points. The athleticism shined through throughout the game on reverse layups and slashes off the bounce. Finished several and-1s. Play of the game was when he caught a 3/4 court lob from his brother for a finish. Plus transition wing that can take it coast to coast off the glass or a defensive stop. Liked what he brought defensively swatting shots on the regular and using his active hands on the perimeter getting steals. Next step in his development is getting a consistent jumper because he has about everything else in his bag now! Went for 24 points 5 blocks, and 3 steals
Ikee Brooks Ikee Brooks 5'11" | PG Hansberry | 2025 State IL (Hansberry – 2025)
This twin is the point guard of the team. He has made major strides since the summer. First he is playing under more control while still using his speed and explosiveness with the ball in his hands. Such a dynamic defender getting steals and taking them the other way in a hurry for scores. Good passing feel in both the open floor and half court. Acrobatic finisher with improved passing and is a plus on ball defender. He had 16 points.
Jaali Love Jaali Love 6'7" | PF Manley | 2026 State IL (Manley – 2026)
Love started out a bit slow, but then the skilled and athletic face up four man got it going. Long and projectable prospect that has major bounce. He had a nice take from the mid-post area for a bank in. Followed that up with a tip in and a 12 foot baseline jumper in the first half. In the second half put it on the deck for a scoop shot and hit a three. Showed flashes of what we loved over the summer as a rim protector getting a couple of emphatic ones. Would have liked to see him rebound a little better in this one. The top 10 sophomore had 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
Johnathan Calmese (Manley – 2024)
Calmese has been on our radar for several years since he was a freshman at Farragut. The now veteran senior guard for Manley showed why small colleges and JUCO’s should be investing time in his recruitment. Explosive downhill slasher that has a nice soft touch finishing game to go along with getting to the line on a regular basis. Did manage one triple in the game. He had 13 points.
