Sully Perkins
Sully Perkins
Sully Perkins is the first underclassmen to crack the list. In his first year on varsity, Perkins is a key piece averaging 10.4 points per game on 47.9% three-point shooting. He’s off to a hot start, connecting on 23 of 48 three-point attempts. Perkins is an off ball shooter that finds the soft spots on the court to spot up. If he can continue to shoot this well, Amherst has a nice off ball piece to build around.
Ben Vasold Ben Vasold 6’3″ | SG Watertown Luther Prep | 2024 WI has been the heart and soul of this Watertown Luther Prep team for two years now. He’s averaging 21.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. He has one of the more impressive shooting splits at 53/48/80, while connecting on 21/44 (47.7%) three-pointers. He exploded for a career high 36 points against Messmer. He’ll compete for 1st team all-conference this season.
Justin Brehm
Justin Brehm
Justin Brehm, who I believe missed a majority of last season due to injury, is back and making his impact felt for East Troy. Through 8 games, the senior is averaging nearly 17 points per game on 30/72 (41.7%) shooting from distance. That’s a volume of 9 three-point attempts per game, which ties him for the highest volume among the top 10 and honorable mention list in Division III. Brehm is an undersized, off ball shooter that needs little time to get off his high release, high arcing shot. I expect him to compete for all-conference at the season’s close.
Dominik Baxter
Dominik Baxter
Dominik Baxter is the 2nd underclassmen to crack this list. Baxter was a high level contributor and shooter last season, but has announced his arrival as a top player overall in the Packerland Conference this season. The sophomore is averaging 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. Baxter may receive some recruiting buzz down the road given his combination of size (6’3″) and shooting prowess. Baxter is 27/62 (43.5%) from three-point land and has already notched two 30+ point games. He’s a prospect to monitor moving forward.
Playing on the #2 ranked team in Division III, Derrick Johnson Derrick Johnson 6’3″ | CG Dominican | 2024 State WI is often overlooked due to the talent on this Dominican squad. Johnson receives some buzz, but his level of consistency through all four years of high school is truly amazing and largely goes unrecognized. He’s averaged 13.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game throughout his career, while shooting 42.1% from three. Johnson is a coach’s dream. He’s a consistent starting piece that plays his role well and provides efficient scoring volume from the three-point line. Johnson is shooting 31/79 (39.2%) from three through 10 games this year.
