An athletic guard, Bussey has had a fast start to his senior season for the Eagles. Dangerous in transition with the explosiveness to throw it down. Also a tough on-ball defender, Bussey fits the profile that a lot of small college programs look for. A high academic student, Bussey has set himself up to be recruited by a variety of programs. Lots of time Saint Edward has the depth where players have to wait till their senior year to play a major varsity role. That’s been the case with Bussey and he is making the most of his opportunity to play heavy minutes early in the season.
Highlights
Another Saint Edward prospect that waited his turn, Scarpitti is a bit of a different type of guard. Undersized but a guard who will bring toughness, Scarpitti is looking to set the table for his teammates and knock down perimeter shots. The lefty played a role as a Junior and after a strong summer with TNBA is a big piece for the Eagles as a senior. Another prospect who should receive a lot of small college interest, Scarpitti took a visit to Division III powerhouse Wooster over the summer.
One of a few transfers to Toledo Whitmer this off-season, McLeod came from Wauseon. After being a multi sport standout at Wauseon, McLeod has fit in well with Whitmer. I got to see McLeod for the first time in person at the Toledo Top 64 where he stood out as a complimentary guard who could knock down open shots, find the open man and defend on the perimeter.
Reynolds isn’t a point guard but can shoot it at an extremely high level. He formed a nice back-court duo with Kenyon Giles Kenyon Giles 6’0″ | CG Maple Heights | 2024 State OH last season before Giles transferred to Maple Heights and the lefty has had some big-time scoring games as a senior. I was impressed when I caught Reynolds at the Cleveland Basketball Classic the opening weekend of the high school season this year. A name for regional small college programs to check out.
