Canton 73 Elk Point-Jefferson 49
One of the top prospects in the state proved himself against EPJ. Anderson had a nice stat line, producing a double-double with 24 points (10-19 FG), 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks in 27 minutes of play. He’s a long wing with bounce and a well-rounded and skilled offensive game. Matt defends with quick lateral feet, locking down his matchup on the drive. Plays good positioning and defends without fouling. A wing with a skilled handle to be able to play the point at the high school level as well. Showed he can board and go coast to coast slicing through the D to finish through traffic at the hoop. Matt maintained his stock from this opening game.
Highlights
Julius brings a ton of energy. Really like his effort and skill combination. An electric and explosive athlete with burst to his step. He was impactful in this game with 10 points (4-7 FG), 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. He can handle the point guard spot and is a disruptive defender and anticipatory playmaker.
Highlights
Kayden was a bright spot for EPJ and brought confidence and offensive aggression. He made 4 of 11 shots (1-5 3pt) for 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. Very quick with the ball, with straight line drives at the hoop, attacking contact. Played without fear and with confidence.
Tripp-Delmont/Armour 59 Menno 21
Isaac Wunder
Isaac Wunder
Wunder was my main takeaway from the TDA and Menno game. A small town kid but he looked the part from a physical profile standpoint. TDA got up big and Wunder didn’t need to play the fourth quarter, but he did some damage in three quarters. Pretty good length and some long arms at 6’2”. Handled the ball primarily and he had a productive game scoring and playmaking. He was able to get rebounds consistently versus a small Menno squad. Had a few offensive rebounds for putbacks.
Prep Hoops Dakotas will finish up viewing some more games from Thursday night to bring our audience some more standouts.
