An improved Regina squad claimed its fourth victory in a row. The Regals won nine games all of last season.
Here are players that shined Monday night on a bigger stage:
Tate Wallace Tate Wallace 6'3" | PF Regina | 2027 State IA

Wallace turned heads during his strong freshman season on the gridiron. Monday, the newcomer looked poised to follow that up with a productive campaign on the hardwood this winter. He paced the Regals in scoring (20 points) and rebounding (7) on this night. His aggressive approach isn’t something often seen from freshmen. Combining it with a versatile skill set will allow him to impact games for the next four years.
Michael Martin Michael Martin 6'2" | SG Regina | 2024 State IA
Michael Martin Michael Martin 6'2" | SG Regina | 2024 State IA
I was impressed with Martin watching him last season during a game at West Liberty. The senior has advanced his game since then. He showed a smooth outside shot again this time around. Martin made gains with his physical strength, which aided him in getting to the basket and finishing. He also worked on his ball handling. He entered Monday’s action averaging over 20 points per game. He netted 11 in this one to go with six rebounds.
Drew Streb
Drew Streb
Streb surprised me last season with his agility and quickness for a big guy. The senior showed that again Monday as well as a high basketball IQ. Surrounded by a group of talented wing scorers, Streb works well within the offense as a screener and low-block presence. He see the plays develop and pops to an opening when a teammate drives. He scored 10 points and grabbed six boards in this game.
Will Litton Will Litton 6'4" | PF Regina | 2027 State IA
Will Litton Will Litton 6'4" | PF Regina | 2027 State IA
Litton brings excellent energy off of the Regal bench. The freshman played with confidence and asserted himself into the action inside upon his arrival on the court. He attacks the rim with an aptitude for shooting with both hands. He holds his ground well defensively in the paint and is athletic enough to guard away from the basket. He scored six points, pulled down six rebounds, handed out a pair of assists and recorded two steals in this contest.
Petersen is Regina’s engine on both ends of the court. The senior point guard deftly gets the Regals into their offense and plays excellent on-ball defense. He’s one of those guys you appreciate more by watching than looking at a box score. He’s a smart, tough player always looking for way to help his team win. He paced the Regals with four assists without a turnover, adding four rebounds, two steals and a three-pointer here.
Highlights
Zach Binns
Zach Binns
Binns stuck out to me early in this game. He’s an athletic 6-5 with long arms, making him dangerous on both ends of the court. He’s smooth in the paint with a soft touch on his shot. He works well from the low block or the high post. On defense, his length makes him effective at blocking shots or altering them. He led the Tigers with 14 points on 7 of 9 shooting from the floor. His 11 rebounds were a game-high.
Daedlow and Petersen teamed up for the night’s best matchup. They’re similar lead guards with toughness and court sense. Daedlow is a strong ball handler who changes speeds well and slices through pressure. He’s hard-nosed on the defensive end, using his quickness to stay in front of the opposition. He scored six points and dished out a team-high four assists with just one turnover.
