The Illinois Player of the Year candidate continued on his season long tear yesterday. In a nip and tuck game with St. Francis De Sales, the Cleveland State commit completely took over the game. One of the most unstoppable covers when going downhill, Je’Shawn got to the front of the rim at will in the 2nd half. Finished with a game high 33 points while garnering player of the game honors. Lindblom is off to the best start that we have seen in recent memory, and that has a large part to do with the fact that they generally have the best player on the court on a nightly basis.
Mike Woods 5’11 Pg Freshman St. Francis De Sales:
I witnessed a future star of Illinois high school basketball yesterday. I am solidified in saying that you can not have a conversation about the top players in 2027 without mentioning the name Mike Woods. In the game against #14 ranked Lindblom, Woods put on an “absolute show.” He got everywhere he wanted on the court at will. He scored in the paint, he knocked down shots from the perimeter, and made excellent reads facilitating for his teammates. He finished with 30 points 7 rebounds and 5 assists. What stood out to me was his toughness, he often times got to the offensive glass for put backs amongst the bigger players. A two way guard that is definitely on PHI’s radar!
Jayden Williams 6’3 G Sophomore Rich Township:
It is good to see Jayden back on the court and healthy. Yesterday he reminded of me of why I have been so high on him since grade school. Jayden could potentially be the most skilled wing in the 2026 class. He’s an elite shooter, who can make shots both off the catch and off the dribble. He has an advanced feel for the game which allows him to make great reads on the basketball floor. Jayden finished with an efficient 20 point performance, and did it in limited minutes. Mr. Williams is back!
Marquis Clark Marquis Clark 6'2" | PG Whitney Young | 2026 State IL 6’2 Pg Sophomore Whitney Young:
With junior point guard Damajay Richardson Damajay Richardson 5'11" | PG Whitney Young | 2025 State IL out, more ball handling responsibilities were left square on the shoulders of powerfully built Marquis Clark Marquis Clark 6'2" | PG Whitney Young | 2026 State IL , and he did not disappoint. It is easy to see why he is one of the most coveted players in Illinois regardless of class. There is really no answer for Clark when he is engaged and playing with pace and force. Against West Side (Gary, IN) he was clicking on all cylinders. He applied so much pressure on West Side who surprisingly jumped out to an early lead on the Dolphins. I don’t know that there is a better combination of scoring and facilitating in the 2026 class. What stands out to me, is how easy Clark makes it look. He finished with 21 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds, while being named player of the game. Just a natural basketball player.
Chris Riddle Chris Riddle 6'5" | SF Kenwood | 2024 State #204 Nation IL 6’5 Wing Senior Kenwood:
The DePaul commit was an absolute force against East Chicago. He dominated the game from beginning to end. He scored from all 3 levels. Possibly the state’s most physically imposing wing, it is not many answers for Chris when he’s on his game. When the home crowd was getting behind their team it was Riddle who the Broncos turned to time and time again to stop runs, or ignite one of their own. Riddle finished with 33 points on the night and Player of Game honors.
