Max Juhala Max Juhala 6'5" | SF West Linn | 2024 State OR has been through it all but has stepped more into a leading role after coming off the bench the past couple of years. It’s something the 6-foot-5 senior has embraced as he hopes to capture the eyes of college recruiters this season.
To prepare for things this year, he spent last spring and summer playing with the Oregon Prospects. “It went good playing with those guys, you know, no one’s really looking to get all the buckets,” Juhala said. “We played well together, and I feel like that helps in an environment like I’m in here with West Linn because I think we’re going to play better if everyone plays together versus one main guy.”
Known as a great shooter, one of Juhala’s this past off-season was to further diversfy his overall game. “I’ve been looking a lot know, get towards the basket more rather than shooting the three ball, and then on defense, just being a little more aggressive,” Juhala said.
A stalwart in the classroom, Juhala has picked up some solid D-III recruiting interest. He notes that he’s been talking a lot to local schools such as Linfield and George Fox and also with Redlands down in Southern California. At this point in time he’s keeping all of his options open.
“I mean, to me, it just comes down to where I can get the most scholarship money and good environment, good coaches, good program, obviously, where they go to compete,” Juhala said.
West Linn has been slowly coming along this season – the Lions have struggled a bit at times but did show some signs in the Les Schwab Invitational and won their last game there. For Juhala, the goals remain the same.
“We have the same standard – I mean, we’re looking to get back to that championship and get it done this year,” Juhala said. “We’re a great shooting team, and I think that we can get it done if we work harder than the teams that we play against.”
Juhala currently ranks as the #34 ranked player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2024 rankings.
