Burnette is a Raleigh area guard to have on your watchlist, as he just narrowly missed a triple double by one rebound. He had 17/9/10 vs. Leesville in a dominant win, and his senior season has caught my eye so far. He’s an impressive playmaker who finds teammates with great vision and knows how to make the right play, not the most flashy play. Also an impressive shooter with a quick and fluid release from the perimeter.
Jackson put on another show this week, as he recorded 23 point and 5 steals vs. crosstown school Jacksonville, and showed why we need to keep tabs on one of the best players from out East in his class. He’s a dogged defender that can guard all five spots on the floor, and put together his best game of the season so far on the offensive end, being efficient and even stretching the floor a little bit. Keep an eye on him some more during this season.
Karr has to be the best statistic performer of the week as he notched a triple double with a statline of 37/15/10/6 vs South Iredell, and then followed it up with almost another one with a 25/13/8 statline vs Statesville. He’s a jumbo playmaker that can play on or off the ball, and score from all areas of the floor. Should be someone D1 schools start to take looks at during the season and over the summertime in grassroots action.
Jones is playing a huge part in Croatan’s undefeated start to their season, posting a 27/4/4 statline vs East Cartaret and a 18/6/4 statline vs Southside, two very good teams out east. He’s been a good scorer and leader for his group, and gets it done from all three levels.
Hall played a big part in Middle Creek’s two wins last week, dropping 22 points against Green Hope and 23 points and 8 rebounds in a win over Apex Friendship. He’s a dynamic shotmaker and taker that has some burst to get into the paint and mid-range area in order to get his buckets. Can get on the glass and play some solid defense when asked to as well. He should continue to be a main part of the Middle Creek attack over the rest of the season.
