West has taken a clear leap with his game and caught fire in the second quarter. Already holding high major offers and interest, it’s only a matter of time before you see West on national recruiting rankings. His confidence and quick trigger is hard to guard and he also had some acrobatic finishes at the rim. Whitmer is one of the most talented teams in Ohio and West is a great leader of their team.
Highlights
A newer name for myself, Young got the start and played with a lot of confidence. Against tons of pressure from Sandusky and a crazy environment, you can’t back down from traps and Young took advantage. Splitting double teams, making euro steps for layups and moving without the ball, Young was a nice boost for Whitmer. A name to track over the next few years.
Bonner came out very aggressive offensively and led all scorers after the first quarter. Able to beat slower footed forwards off the bounce, Bonner even knocked down a time and space 3-pointer. I love the motor Bonner plays with as he’s not the most skilled wing forward, but always gives 100% effort. He’s a big reason why Sandusky has been so successful this season and last year.
Lorain absolutely cruised to a blowout win in the third place game as the duo of Kielian and Jaiden Guerra-Howard were excellent for the Titans. Kielian knocked down a handful of one and two dribble mid-range pull-ups in rhythm. Also got after it defensively with good length, Lorain really bothered Detroit Country Day with their pressure.
