District 1 Location – Lindbergh
- Likely Favorite: Cardinal Ritter
- Upset Candidate: Lindbergh
- Comments: Cardinal Ritter is the heavy favorite here. They return almost all of their production from last season and have a large number of experienced seniors. Their combination of talent, elite coaching, and championship pedigree will be tough to beat. Lindbergh has a great senior class and has started well. Their style of play and great offensive sets could create some noise during district play.
District 2 Location – Parkway South
- Likely Favorite: Eureka
- Upset Candidate: Kirkwood
- Comments: Eureka is expected to make another run this season. They have experienced guards and play a slow defensive style that can frustrate teams. Their trip to the sectionals last season will prove to be valuable in February. Kirkwood is a dark horse. The program is under new leadership and there’s still talent to work with. Evan Simon Evan Simon 6'1" | PG Kirkwood | 2025 State MO is a dynamic PG.
District 3 Location – Chaminade
- Likely Favorite: Chaminade
- Upset Candidate: CBC
- Comments: This district is one that will has two MCC powers within it. Chaminade won the early matchup on the road and is expected to make a deep run. They have all the pieces needed. CBC kept the game close, however, and looks energized midway through the season. The winner of this district could make a deep run to the Final Four as they’ll be battle tested.
District 4 Location – Troy
- Likely Favorite: Troy
- Upset Candidate: Francis Howell
- Comments: This district is up in the air. There are multiple teams who could enter the games hot and make a run at the championship. Troy is the favorite as of now but it’s extremely fluid. Francis Howell has a talented roster with good guard play so look out for them. Liberty and St. Dominic are also ready to compete and have as good of a shot as anyone to win this district.
District 5 Location – Glendale
- Likely Favorite: Springfield Central
- Upset Candidate: Kickapoo
- Comments: A tough district to choose. Springfield Central and Kickapoo are evenly matched and this should be a toss-up. Kickapoo has history and is a traditionally strong program that knows how to win. Central on the other hand is an up and coming program with lofty goals. They’re the new kids on the block so to speak. This matchup would be a potentially exciting district championship in Southwest Missouri.
District 6 Location – Truman
- Likely Favorite: Lee’s Summit West
- Upset Candidate: Rockhurst
- Comments: Lee’s Summit West is the obvious favorite here because of their talent level. They have great players all over the floor and run a solid system. What’s difficult to choose is the upset candidate. This district has solid depth and no one team stands out. We chose Rockhurst because they have size and proven production at the guard spot, but you could make a case for any team in the district.
District 7 Location – Blue Springs South
- Likely Favorite: Battle
- Upset Candidate: Hickman
- Comments: Battle has looked very good this season. They have a ton of speed and athletic ability. This combined with their shooting and size on the wing creates a lot of mismatch problems. Hickman among others will provide a challenge with that being said. Brock Camp Brock Camp 6'6" | PF HIckman | 2025 State MO is a top player in the state and Hickman has been clicking on all cylinders since getting healthy.
District 8 Location – North Kansas City
- Likely Favorite: Oak Park
- Upset Candidate: North Kansas City
- Comments: Oak Park is the favorite to win state because of their elite guard play. Some of the toughest games they’ll play would be on their road to state however. This district is a gauntlet and the toughest in the state. North Kansas City looks great so far and is a dark horse to win the section. You also can never count out Staley under Coach Neff. Tons of dynamic players and coaches in District 8.
