This week, let’s look at a few scoring threats that have caused problems for opposing defenses to start the season.
2023 stats: 14.0 PPG – 5.8 rebounds – 1.2 steals
Castro has been on my radar since balling out at our Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo Event where he showed off great toughness and resilience to finish as a top standout. He’s a physical guard prospect that can get him near the paint or surprise you with a decent jump shot. Castro also makes an impact on the defensive side with good anticipation skills and on-ball defense.

Darius Cunnigham Jr.
Darius Cunnigham Jr.
2023 stats: 21.8 PPG – 8.6 rebounds – 4.4 assists – 2.4 steals
A North Florida prospect that has been overlooked and underappreciated by a lot scouting outlets. Just look at the production and accolades from a season ago: 1st in Rebounds Per Game 6A District 1 (8.6) – 1st in Assists Per Game 6A District 1 (4.5) – 1st in Double-Doubles 6A District 1 (10) – 3rd in Points Per Game 6A District 1 (14.9) – T-3rd in Steals Per Game 6A District 1 (2.0).
This kid is a future production combo guard at the next level that has decent size and upside to be a consistent scoring threat. He’s averaging over 20.0 PPG and will be crucial for him to continue with the overall output in all categories. Cunningham is set for a huge senior season that can land him on a college roster.
2023 stats: 19.0 PPG – 5.6 rebounds – 3.9 assists – 3.0 steals
The 6-2 Jesuit product is on one to start the season as he’s helped lead the Tigers to a 6-1 hot start to get the season going. The electric senior combo guard is a speedy prospect but plays with good body control and IQ at the top of the key or in transition. Another 2024 guard that will be on the market for college coaches but will need to show off his ability to stay consistent throughout the season.

Dominick Nicholson
Dominick Nicholson
2023 stats: 16.0 PPG – 5.3 rebounds – 4.2 assists – 3.7 steals rnNicholson is a good-sized senior prospect at 6-5 who is off to a decent start for his final high school basketball season. Another North Florida recruit who has made noise but continues to be slept on but not for much longer. Nicholson has contributed to a 5-2 start for the Jaguars who are looking to bounce back from a tough year a season ago. This kid will be a crucial part of the offense with his athleticism and decent jump shot while he also provides solid defense on guards because of his frame and longer reach.
2023 stats: 24.4 PPG – 4.4 assists – 3.8 rebounds – 3.8 steals rnThe highest scoring output recruit on the list is Livingston Jr. who lit it up during the offseason AAU period. He’s taken that confidence and scoring ability into the regular season for the Spartans who are 5-0 to start the season. College coaches, look out for the junior to continue making noise this season with his scoring ability. Still has time to grow into his body but his speed, athletic ability, and DOG mentality has taken him to new heights this junior year.
