Among the intense matchups, several standout players caught my attention, and their performances are worth highlighting. Read on to discover more about these exceptional players, and don’t miss the chance to watch the captivating highlights I captured from one of the games.
Daleron Thomas Daleron Thomas 6'0" | CG Omaha Central | 2024 State NE is an exceptional basketball player who brings a showtime vibe to the court. He is not only talented but also gritty, passionate, and thrilling to watch. In week 2, he has established himself as a top 3 guard in my opinion. He possesses all the necessary skills to be an excellent starting guard, including the ability to drain threes, break ankles, and set up his team. He has impressive hops, can finish above the rim (off one foot), and is causes chaos on defense. What sets Daleron apart is his raw passion and team-first mentality which make him a true image and likeness player. In my three years of experience with Prep Hoops, I have not seen a player with as much court swagger as him.
Deandre Harper Deandre Harper 6'5" | C Omaha South | 2024 State NE is a dominant player, standing tall at 6’7″ and weighing 280 pounds. He is a force to be reckoned with on both offense and defense, as demonstrated in his recent game against Lincoln Southwest, where he helped his team secure a 5-1 record. Harper is skilled at utilizing his size to score effortless baskets and is a dependable rebounder. He is also an excellent football player, performing impressively on the offensive line. Harper is not one to shy away from the dirty work that coaches appreciate, such as setting effective screens. He recently shut down a highly rated Division I recruit on defense and owned him offensively too. Harper is not just an exceptional player, but also a strong leader on and off the court, making him an asset to any team.
Devin Holman is a 6’6″ small forward who played exceptionally well last week in Omaha Central’s victory against Omaha Bryan. Devin is a skilled player with an impressive ability to slash to the basket with slick angles, shoot threes, and pull off smooth moves off the dribble for those midrange shots. He also showcases crazy athleticism, often finishing above the rim with a solid two-handed dunk. Additionally, Devin’s long frame is not just for show, as he is also great at blocking shots and putting pressure on passing lanes. It was my first time seeing him play, but I’m excited to see him continue to perform well on the court. There’s no doubt that Devin has some serious potential.
Mynor Strong Mynor Strong 6'1" | CG Omaha North | 2024 State NE had an impressive performance in Week 2, demonstrating some excellent skills. He has a smooth 3-point shot and follows through well on his jumpers. I witnessed him make some clever plays while going coast to coast, demonstrating his ball-handling abilities. On defense, his long reach disrupts passing lanes and creates difficulties for guards who dribble excessively. Overall, Mynor has a complete package with the athleticism to execute one-handed or two-handed dunks, as well as a pretty solid midrange game.
