Early pressure in the zone defense allowed Chatham Central to build a lead in the early stages. The Bears led the Pirates 10-2 with 1:38 left in the first quarter.
After 1, Chatham Central led 16-5. The Bears controlled both ends of the floor with their ability to stay connected.
Chatham Central held onto control of the game well through the 2nd quarter, leading 20-10 with 3:09 left in the first half.
The offense for both teams would stall in the final minutes. At the half, Chatham Charter led 20-12.
Reid Albright Reid Albright 6'1" | SG Chatham Central | 2025 State NC would get the scoring for the Bears started in the second half with a 3-pointer while Bartlett Yancey would find their offense. They trailed 23-18 with 5:21 in the third quarter.
Chatham Central led 26-22 with 3:56 left in the third quarter before calling a timeout to regroup.
The Bears got the lead back to seven points and weathered the Bucs run that was led by 2024 guard Matthew Sidney.
After the 3, Chatham Central led by just six points, 33-27.
Back-to-back 3s from Logan Maness opened up the scoring for the Bears to start the fourth and the lead grew back to 39-26 for them.
44-29 Chatham Central with 5:10 left. The Bears would find their shooting stroke in the final quarter to continue to push the pace.
They led 49-34 with 3:32 left in the game. Back-to-back threes from Matthew Sidney would keep the Bucs in it though. 49-40 Chatham Charter. With each run the Bucs made, the Bears would respond until the final whistle.
Final 53 Chatham Central – 42 Bartlett Yancey
Albright had a bit of slow start shooting wise but not on the defensive front. He began the game with three steals on consecutive possessions and finished with six steals along with 25 points, nine rebounds and three assists to lead the way for Chatham Central. He knocked down four 3-pointers while shooting 8-of-17 from the overall field. He scored 18 of his 25 points in the second half to show off his development as a junior prospect.

Logan Maness
Logan Maness was another standout in the Chatham Central backcourt as he stepped up. He made some big shots in the late stages including back-to-back 3-pointers to boost their lead to double digits to begin the fourth quarter. He’s a sharpshooter to keep an eye on in their rotation going forward given his ability to create offense.

Gaines was confident in handling the ball on offense and showed off his prowess shooting the basketball, though he finished with just five points. He had a few good misses in the game as he showed the tools of a confident shooting stroke. He finished with five rebounds, four assists and three steals while filling up the stat sheet in a variety of ways to help facilitate the victory.
Aidan Johnson
Aidan Johnson
Aidan Johnson was an active presence in the painted area for Chatham Central in boosting their offensive attack. He nearly notched a double-double in finishing with 10 points and seven rebounds, showing he could be a presence on the boards on both ends. He’s a 6-foot-3 small forward to keep an eye on given his strength and length as a presence in the paint.
Matthew Sidney

Matthew Sidney impressed in leading Bartlett Yancey on both ends of the floor. He showed confidence in the second half with his shooting ability and kept things close in the late stages to keep the Buccaneers in striking distance until the very end. When he wasn’t looking to score, he was a presence on the rebounding front and had some nice moments offensive rebounding in the second half as well. He’s an unsigned senior for DII, DIII and JUCO programs in the 336 area to get to know.
