Certainly playing a valuable role with one of the state’s top programs, Ellwood does an excellent job of probing in the paint for kickouts to the wide array of shooters available. Comfortable making quick decisions while on the attack downhill, Ellwood always keeps his eyes up for the extra pass once the defense collapses. With the ball on a string with either hand, the guard is confident facilitating and proactive making the next play. Another area of value has been his impact at the point of attack, matching with other quick guards. He consistently gets into a low stance, to wall off the lane from drives.
Highlights
Bringing so many areas of value, Howery is an especially high IQ guard who see’s the floor at a high level. With the ball on a string going either direction, the guard is rarely a turnover risk from errant passes. Particularly effective controlling the pace within the halfcourt, Howery is excellent getting downhill to take advantage of a collapsed defense. Although on moderate volume, the lead guard showed consistency knocking down threes last season with Air Academy, contributing 37% of those attempts. As he continues to get up to speed, Howery’s help and point of attack defense will be even more beneficial, one of the better prospects at noticing opponent tendencies. With a new look Air Academy team, Howery’s facilitating abilities will be essential to their success down in Colorado Springs.
Purvis has skyrocketed up the board throughout the summer, gaining numerous opportunities to showcase his positional size and well rounded perimeter skillset. Capable under a variety of circumstances, the guard is already fairly strong complemented with a dependable handle. Effective getting downhill for ambidextrous finishes or short floaters, Purvis has a straightforward playstyle without much extra fluff. Also effective on spot-up attempts, regardless of the contest, Purvis will be one of Fossil Ridge’s more consistent playmakers throughout the season.
Rodgers is an impressive guard who possesses immense confidence contributing on jump shots. Effective rising up into shots off the bounce, the guard gets great elevation on jumpers, complemented by a quick release. His impact as a shotmaker will be fascinating through his final season, certainly adding value spacing the floor for a highly intriguing program.
Delescinskies has been productive all summer while capping off the season with a highly impactful performance versus Mullen. Not afraid of big moments, the senior guard is primed for a highly productive season regardless of the situation. Possessing a quick first step, the guard does great getting the initial advantage on drives to draw in help defenders. Although often seeking scoring options at the rim, Delescinkis can stretch the floor from deep range if necessary, primarily on spot-up attempts. Legacy will be a difficult team to match up with, bringing in notable size in the frontcourt and valuable playmakers.
