That is what the fourth annual Sneakers For Santa Shootout at Brownsburg High School delivered. Prep Hoops Indiana had boots on the ground coverage from the opening tip to the final buzzer with a live blog running throughout the event. Now, it is time to take a step back and recap some of the day’s action. Here are some of the top individual performers from this year’s Sneakers For Santa Shootout.
College coaches were inquiring about this 6’7″ forward from Cathedral High School after his performance in their dominant 80-49 victory over Evansville Bosse. Gatlin is long, athletic, and very mobile at his height. He scored by making a couple of catch-and-shoot three-pointers with a smooth release, attacking closeouts to his right hand, and using his length to finish at the rim. The unsigned senior is a versatile player on both ends of the floor.
Lewis scored a team-leading 16 points to help bring Crispus Attucks back from behind to defeat Center Grove 53-46. The dynamic senior point guard played with great pace throughout the game, got into the paint consistently off of the dribble, and finished in a variety of ways with floaters and layups. He is starting to get comfortable in his new home leading the Tigers offense at the point guard position.
Production, production, production. It isn’t always flashy and it may not jump off the scorebook, but this senior Brownsburg guard simply puts up consistent numbers and contributes to winning basketball games. Porath score 8 of his team-leading 18 points in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs took down Warren Central 49-44.
I feel confident saying even Sisley himself would say he didn’t play his best game ever on Saturday at the Sneakers For Santa Shootout. However, the 6’8″ forward still finished with a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds lead to Heritage Hills to a 53-47 win over Evansville Christian. Sisley’s size eventually overwhelmed the opponent and he took over down the stretch to secure the victory for the Patriots.
One of the most impressive performances of the day came from this 6’7″ junior forward from Ben Davis that quite frankly a lot of people around the state had probably never heard of. However, we’ve been a big believer for nearly a year now of Williams and his potential. That potential was met with production on Saturday as he scored 17 points and dominated on both ends of the floor at the rim in a 71-57 win over Fort Wayne Wayne.
