With so many great players it can lead to other players who are flying under the radar and may not get the same recognition. Here are my under-the-radar players for the 2024 class.
Powell is a quick and explosive guard who can score the basketball in many creative ways. His ability to beat defenders off the dribble with his first step and his speed is how he can get to the rim almost whenever he wants. Powell can stop on a dime and hit the pull-up jump shot in the mid-range. He has shifty handles and gets good space and separation on all his shots especially at the three-point line. His defensive instincts to poke the ball free and get into passing lanes is what makes him a two-way threat.
Primas is a two-way threat that can take over games because of his ability to score and defend all five positions. He attacks the rim with no fear and goes up strong over multiple defenders looking to draw fouls. He can throw it down over taller defenders and has a nice shot from downtown in catch-and-shoot situations. On defense, Primas is a high-flying shot blocker that can get into the passing lanes.
Highlights
Alexander is a dual-threat player on offense with how he can score both inside and outside at efficient rates. His three-point shooting is excellent as he gets good height on his jump shot and has a quick release. He is automatic in catch-and-shoot situations. Alexander is great at scoring off the dribble with his elusive handles allowing him to get anywhere on the court. He has a soft touch around the rim and can slither his way around taller defenders in the paint.
Portnoy is a player that can affect the game in every single way depending on the situation. He can score as well as anyone with his tight handles and ability to create his offense off the dribble. He works the midrange game well and gets shot over most players with his 6’3″ size. He crashes the glass like a center flying in from the perimeter to grab rebounds. Portnoy also has nice playmaking ability looking to set up his teammates for open shots on pick-n-pops and dive cuts to the basket.
Highlights
Wright-Myles is a high-flying rim running machine as he has a motor that is turned all the way up every game. He plays a lot bigger than he is as he uses his strength and athleticism to bully his way into the paint. He can throw his body around and will overpower you no matter how tall you are as he will turn around and throw it down with force. Wright-Myles runs the fastbreak well and will look to block your shot into the stands. Also, he crashes the glass like a center coming up with double-digit rebounds numerous times.
