Two teams in rebuilding mode meet in what should be a competitive ball game.
For Mukwonago, the torch gets passed from Collin Madson to Caleb Poling (6.0 ppg). A 6-foot-4 junior, Poling is coming off a nice spring and summer on the travel circuit. The Indians are needing to replace their top three leading scorers from last season.
It doesn’t get much easier for Martin Luther, who lost its tremendous backcourt of Demerius Shakur and Jalen Haynes off their 16-9 squad. Junior guard Perry Dorris Perry Dorris 6'0" | PG Martin Luther | 2025 State WI (16.8 ppg) and junior forward Alex Thomas (7.2 ppg) will carry the load for the Spartans this winter.
MADISON EAST AT WEST ALLIS CENTRAL (WEST ALLIS THANKSGIVING SHOOTOUT)
Some good, young talent will be on display in the opener of the West Allis Shootout.
The state’s top sophomore, Yusef Gray Jr. Yusef Gray Jr. 6'4" | SG West Allis Central | 2026 State WI , takes the floor, coming off a season in which he averaged 19.0 points per game. The Bulldogs, who went 6-19 last season, are young, but have the potential to be exciting. Their top three leading scorers in 2022-23 were all freshmen.

Two powers face off in a big, early season test between two teams that will look much differently this season.
Coming off a 13-13 season, Kettle Moraine Lutheran has a tough hill to climb in 2023-24. Senior guard Garrett Murphy (16.1 ppg), who led the team in scoring last season returns, but the Chargers lose three double figure scorers.
Xavier went 25-3 last year. However, there’s no Alex Sherwood around this winter. Seniors Tyler Brightman (12.0 ppg) and Sam Pfefferle Sam Pfefferle 6'2" | PG Xavier | 2024 State WI (9.4 ppg), one of the state’s top facilitators, move to the frontfront.
