Curtis was named the 4A state champ last season after a dominating season from Zoom Diallo and Tyce Paulsen. Tyce was a 2023 graduate and Zoom has now taken his talents to Prolific Prep to play on a bigger stage. Olympia made it to the state championship on the back of Parker Gerrits, who had a phenomenal senior season last year, Andreas Engholm was a 6’8″ big man who was a tough matchup for anyone in the state. Federal Way made their way to a 3rd place finish on the backs of Vaughn Weems and Dace Pleasant. Gonzaga Prep finished 4th, with Mount Si finishing 5th, and Camas taking home 6th.
This season, I expect a lot of those 6 teams to be involved late in the season. Mount Si looks like the early favorite headed into the season with Trevor Hennig Trevor Hennig 6'4" | SG Mt Si | 2024 State WA (’24 guard), Blake Forrest Blake Forrest 6'0" | PG Mt Si | 2024 State WA (’24 guard), Langston Ford Langston Ford 6'7" | SF Mt Si | 2024 WA (’24 wing), and Lattimore Ford Lattimore Ford 6'6" | SF Mt Si | 2026 State WA (’26 wing) all leading the way. Olympia and Curtis should both be competitive with Matt Lindblom Matt Lindblom 6'1" | PG Olympia | 2025 State WA (’25 guard, Olympia) and Devin Whitten Devin Whitten 6'2" | SG Curtis | 2024 State WA (’24 guard, Curtis) coming back for their respective teams. Camas is another team that I believe will be right back in the mix of winning a state championship. Beckett Currie Beckett Currie 6'0" | PG Camas | 2025 State WA (’25 guard), Jace Vanvoorhis Jace Vanvoorhis 6'0" | PG Camas | 2025 State WA (’25 guard), and Ethan Harris Ethan Harris 6'7" | SF Camas | 2026 State WA (’26 wing) are going to be one of the top trios in the entire state as all three play off each other extremely well. Union, Skyline, Chiawana, and Richland are a few more 4A teams to keep an eye on.
Now, I am going to make a prediction for each class on who I think will win the state championship. These are purely WAY TO EARLY predictions, but sometimes those are fun. My state champion prediction is Camas taking it over a very tough Mount Si squad.
