Now we can provide more accurate in-depth analysis for teams to watch for this upcoming season. Here are some of the state title favorites in Class 2A for this season:
The Class 2A Reigning Champions were the Sagemont Lions who won their third state title in school history, defeating Orlando Christian Prep 67-66 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.
Sagemont: The Sagemont Lions made a lot of noise this off-season where they landed a key transfer in 6-4 senior guard Jordyn Kee Jordyn Kee 6'4" | CG Sagemont | 2024 State FL . The Lions do return their leading rebounder in 6-6 senior wing Dominic Issa Dominic Issa 6'6" | SF Sagemont | 2024 State FL as well as 6-9 senior forward Kenneth López Kenneth López 6'9" | PF Sagemont | 2024 State FL . The Lions could get back to the state championship game as they have a veteran backcourt in 6-5 senior guard Patrick Liburd Patrick Liburd 6'5" | SG NSU University | 2025 State #218 Nation FL and 6-3 senior guard Devontae Jean Devontae Jean 6'3" | CG Sagemont | 2024 State FL .
Orlando Christian Prep: The Orlando Christian Prep Warriors came up just short of eyeing their fourth consecutive state title last season. They have some unfinished business to take care of with leading returners in 6-5 senior forward Isaiah Brown Isaiah Brown 6'5" | SG Orlando Christian Prep | 2024 State #177 Nation FL (Florida commit) and 6-0 senior guard Ameer Ramadan Ameer Ramadan 6'0" | PG Orlando Christian Prep | 2024 State FL (Florida Southern commit). Also keep an eye this season on 6-6 senior forward Marc Angueki Marc Angueki 6'6" | SF Orlando Christian Prep | 2024 State FL who led the team in rebounds per game last season.
Sports Leadership & Management (Tampa): The Spartans are coming off their first appearance to the Final Four in school history last season, where they were led by 6-4 guards Ramone Seals Ramone Seals 6'4" | CG SLAM Tampa | 2024 State FL and Xavier Finney. This year’s team is destined to be even better as they landed 6-1 senior guard Daniel MacGregor Daniel MacGregor 5'11" | PG Clearwater Calvary Christian | 2024 State FL , 6-5 sophomore guard Willie Piggott Jr and 6-3 senior guard Adrian Moore Adrian Moore 6'1" | CG SLMA! Tampa | 2024 State FL to help support Seals this season. Also keep an eye on 6-0 junior guard Derrick Doe who is a lead catalyst who gives his teammates good energy off the bench.
Victory Christian Academy: The Storm reached the Region Final for the first time in school history last season, behind 6-3 guard Lorenzo Cason Lorenzo Cason 6'2" | PG Victory Christian | 2024 State #75 Nation FL (Florida Atlantic commit) leading the classification in scoring. This year’s team will feature a veteran-led backcourt in 6-3 senior guard Jordan Lanier Jordan Lanier 6'4" | PG Victory Christian | 2024 State FL , 5-7 freshman guard Miles Morrell Miles Morrell 5'6" | PG Victory Christian Academy | 2027 FL and 6-0 senior guard Mike Andino Mike Andino 6'0" | PG Victory Christian Academy | 2024 State FL .
North Florida Educational Institute: Despite losing their top two leading scorers at the end of last season due to graduation, the Eagles are reloading this year. Keep an eye on 6-2 sophomore guard Carlos Odeja to take care of initiating the offense as he follows in the footsteps of former combo guard Isaac Taveras. Another name to keep an eye on this season will be 6-6 senior wing LeAno Rolle who plays a superb athleticism role where he can finish efficiently around the rim as well as become a big-time rebounder on both ends of the floor. A sleeper prospect in this offense can be 6-5 senior wing Kemauny Welch Kemauny Welch 6'5" | PF NFEI | 2024 State FL who can make an impact on both ends of the floor, as well as become a real deal of a future collegiate prospect.
