SJ had 14 points with 3 threes in Redondo’s win over Foothill on Saturday night. Madison attacked the basket confidently, gave defenders something to think about by hitting three’s, and defended tenaciously. SJ’s varied impact at both ends is going to make him an important cog for Redondo this season and as a sophomore he still has a ton of room to grow and develop.
Chris Sanders
Chris Sanders
Chris chipped in 9 points for Redondo in their win over Foothill on Saturday night. Sanders performed well especially considering his age and that it was his first official game at the varsity level. He is built well physically and should be able to make an impact on both ends.
Danny showed great touch in the paint on Saturday night against Redondo Union and had 21 points in Foothill’s loss. Kennard came out hot with 10 quick points in the first quarter and was able to hurt Redondo repeatedly in close to the basket. He would do well to develop a greater variety of post moves to prepare for the next level, but he will have a very good season this year with Foothill.
Brandon had 19 points and a bevy of dunks in St. John Bosco’s win over Long Beach Poly. McCoy Jr.’s athleticism is quite simply on a different level than most of his peers in the state if not the entire western part of the country. He’s very difficult for kids to stay even with when he is attacking the basket but even when they are able to he tends to just jump over or around people to nonchalantly get to the rim. One of the only things you could nitpick about Brandon’s game is that he could be a more efficient three point shooter.
Elzie had 14 points in St. John Bosco’s win over Long Beach Poly on Saturday night. Harrington was in a competitive battle with fellow ballyhooed recruit Jovani Ruff Jovani Ruff 6’5″ | SG Long Beach Poly | 2025 State #117 Nation CA-S most of the evening and acquitted himself well at both ends. He rebounded, attacked the basket very aggressively, and as always, was very efficient in the mid range area.
Kade had 15 points in St. John Bosco’s win over Long Beach Poly on Saturday night. Bonam excelled on the interior in this one as he finished with a variety of moves in the paint showing off his finishing vocabulary. He also made a major impact as a rebounder and helped enable St. John Bosco to repossess the lead and control of the game in the second half.
Jovani had 24 points and hit 4 threes in Long Beach Poly’s loss to St. John Bosco on Saturday night. Ruff hit a variety of very difficult shots but is able to create space for himself with his athleticism, footwork, and handle. He also has great body control, balance, and confidence which is what enables him to attack the basket and try to finish from a multitude of different angles and positions.
Myles Walker Myles Walker 5'9" | PG Roosevelt | 2025 State CA-S
Myles Walker Myles Walker 5'9" | PG Roosevelt | 2025 State CA-S
Myles had 19 points in Roosevelt’s win over Crean Lutheran on Saturday night. Walker is a nightmarish on ball defender who is in the opponents hip pocket from the opening tip, gets into passing lanes, and turns long rebounds into layups in a blur. He is also a threat from beyond the line which makes him very difficult to stop on offense because most defenders have to give him some room due to the quickness of his first step. Myles also has good touch and creativity on floaters which is a necessary tool for him to be effective at his size.
Hudson had 13 points and looked impressive in his return from injury in Redondo Union’s win over Foothill on Saturday night. Mayes experienced a torn ACL about a year ago but didn’t look any worse for wear physically as he moved confidently all over the court. He attacked the basket well, rebounded, and was very active on the defensive end. Hudson looks strong coming into this season and the Redondo Union team will be fun to watch.
