The event had several players who made really good first impressions. Here’s a look at some fresh faces from the combine.

Kellen Krause
I think unanimously Krause was the player that opened the most eyes. He was the shortest player at the event, and what started out as a cute story, turned into the realization that he could flat out ball. Shooting is the great equalizer, and the PG used it to get his name on the radar. He hosited up several jumpers, including some threes, and finished the shooting drill with the 2nd most makes. He was one of the top fresh faces we saw.

It’s no suprise Howard was always one of the quickest to the ball. He recorded the fastest time in the lane agility drill and it showed during games. The fresh face came up with a ton of loose balls and won more than his share of 50/50’s

My apologies to Persin for missing his name during the All Star Game introductions, however that will probably be the last time any basketball person misses the talented wing. He hustled hard coming up with a ton of 50/50 balls. The fresh face also displayed some solid ball skills, showing the ability to handle well against perimeter pressure.

Got to see Hall for the first time. The guard showed good promise and a high IQ. The fresh face, unselfish guard played hard nosed on ball defense, having an impact and getting himself on the radar from the camp.

Ronquillo is one of those players that I had no familiarity with before he registred for the combine. He left making an impression with both his physical attributes and skill. He was one of the quickest players, recording one of the best lane agility runs at 10.8. He was also one of the most prolific shooters, knocking down 8 threes during the shooting drill.

You’re going to want to purchase stock in Jolly, as he’s exactly the type of player the combine is designed for. One of the youngest players at the camp recorded some freakish measurements, as he measured out as a +5 wingspan, which is usually a good indication of a future growth spurt. The fresh face also showed good explosion reaching a max true vertical of over 20 inches.

Riley is another young player with a wingspan exceeding his height. The long arm guard used his length during 5 v 5 play to get steals, and harrass opposing ballhandlers. The fresh face showed good skill as wll, making 7 threes in the shooting drill.

Clark is a high IQ player that represented himself well at the combine. He was able to have an impact with his willingness to defend and rebound for his team. The fresh face was easily able to defend every position on the floor, and did a good job cleaning the backboards on both ends, en route to earning an All Star game selection.

Easter receives the endurance award from the camp as the guard wanted to participate in the event so much, that he ran back and forth between tournament games. We’re glad he did, the fresh face guard showed toughnes and wiggle, despite running on fumes in the event.
