Friday evening University School of Nashville (USN) battled Hume-Fogg in downtown Nashville. A few flash evaluations materialized.

[player_tooltip player_id='1578683' first='Clay' last='Payne'] (USN) played active hunting the basketball. He was not just a toad on a rock under the basket. Payne flashed high. He hit the elbow. In general, USN did both a good job finding him and Payne did a good job becoming available.

It was not a regular occurrence, but Payne decided to dribble the ball up the floor once, and seamlessly broke off a behind-the-back dribble at full speed. At 6-foot-7+, Payne is increasingly looking like a potential District MVP. College coaches are and will be scouting his progress for certain.

Payne is destined for a breakout year after earning Defensive MVP and @PrepHoopsTN Combine All-Star last month.

Nwoye (Hume-Fogg) is a player that has been ranked for the past two years. NYBA Elite AAU began developing his game several years back and while Nwoye teases with his length there is still a frustrating gap between his potential and production. Nwoye just has to get better with ball-handling. In his first game of the season [player_tooltip player_id='1259398' first='Michael' last='Nwoye'] registered 11 points and 10 rebounds. Truly, Nwoye is at his best when active and hunting the basketball.

Serviceable senior starter. Manz showed a little shooting touch. More guard than forward, at 6-foot-7, Hamilton Manz gave the Tigers some spirited play.

A junior guard, [player_tooltip player_id='2276554' first='Miles' last='Rucker'] splashed in the first quarter with shot creation and touch. Rucker scored ten points in the Knights' season-opening win and began effectively hosting USN Friday.

Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1477572' first='Amaan' last='Anderson'] (USN) gave a crisp baseline bounce pass to [player_tooltip player_id='1578683' first='Clay' last='Payne'] leading to a quick-attacking layup. Anderson is a key player for USN. He did not look to score in the first half. Secured the basketball. Anderson is an undersized point guard. Poised.
