Continue ReadingOn Monday we released our initial Prep Hoops Indiana Class of 2027 Watch List featuring 190 of the best freshmen from across the state. We do not rank prospects in the freshmen class until we’ve been able to at least see them play for their respective high school teams, so there won’t be a ranking until our next update. However, we still continue to grow the watch list over the next few months before ultimately releasing a Top 25 after the first of the year. With that being said, we will know who a few of the very best prospects are in the class and what names you’ll be hearing sooner rather than later this high school season. Between our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and other events from the summer and fall we have already started to get a grasp on these younger prospects. Here are five prospects that have stood out as either improving since the summer or simply impressing on our first viewing.
If there is a player that you feel deserves to be on our Prep Hoops Indiana Class of 2027 Watch List PLEASE shoot me a DM on Twitter @BRamseyKSR or send me an email at coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com. I will make sure to add them to my database and include them in the next update of our Watch List.
***Please disregard the Position Ranking that is being listed in the player profile. We are working to remove those on the backend. All prospects are simply listed alphabetically.***
A skilled, 6’3″ wing, Bellamy stepped into some varsity minutes this summer for North Central at the Charlie Hughes Showcase and other events. He has a good combination of size and skill. Very strong for his age, plays through contact off of the dribble, and is an excellent finisher.
A consistent scorer at our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase, Craig displayed his athleticism and playmaking ability out of the backcourt. The 6’2″ guard from Warren Central High School has good positional size already and looked very comfortable penetrating, getting a piece of the paint, and making the right decision.
Highlights
There are some talented, young pieces at Richmond High School and this 6’2″ forward certainly is one of them. Durbin is a good three-point shooter, does an excellent job on both the offensive and defensive glass, and brings a lot of the intangibles to the table that contribute to winning. Will have a good season for the Red Devils junior varsity squad this season.
Highlights
One of the better Class of 2027 prospects in southern Indiana, Hunter will have a chance to make an immediate impact for Silver Creek High School. He is a very good three-point shooter with a smooth release and has proven to be a talented playmaker off of the dribble as well. Highly skilled guard.
This prospects name certainly won’t be new for fans of the Slicers at LaPorte High School. Ott-Large has produced some excellent talent already at the school and Griffin promises to be the next in line. He is a quick, shifty playmaker with an excellent handle and high-level court vision for a young guard.
