A fortnight of hoops already revealed a few breakout players. To qualify each player must be scoring significantly more often than last season.
For Powell Kaleb Walker Kaleb Walker 6'3" | PG Powell | 2024 State TN bumped his average to 21.7 ppg from 14 ppg, 5.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.4 steals last season.
“Through my first three games with averages of 21.7 pts, 5.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.7 steals,” tweeted Walker. “Off to a 3-0 start to the season.”
Oct. 2022 PrepHoopsTN Combine evalConsistent lower body balance in the shot preparation. Walker is fully capable of playing either guard position effectively at the high school level.
Joshua Whitt Joshua Whitt 5'10" | PG Lancaster Christian Academy | 2026 State TN (Lancaster Christian Academy) earned PrepHoopsTN Jv Camp All-Star and looked decent during AAU. His game suggested eventual varsity success. A tall point guard Whitt demonstrated excellent offensive decision-making and soft shooting 12′ and in. He earned his first PrepHoopsTN Ranking (#53) coming out of the camp.
Rattling off 37 points in his first sophomore game surprised. The competition was frankly poor. Alas, Whitt blew by with a quick first step and also hit numerous three-pointers. Ideally, Joshua will continue to get to the free throw line for that easy money.
Whitt followed his debut up with 26 against better competition.
Jaybyon Snipe Jaybyon Snipe 6'4" | SG Haywood | 2025 State TN (Haywood) is the younger brother of Haywood graduate Janerus Snipe (Chattanooga State Community College). Jaybyon is more silky, less powerful than Janerus.
Through three games Snipe is averaging 18.7 points per. That output is welcome after the graduation of the elder Snipe and Mr. Basketball Finalist Tylon Chatman, both All-State performers.
