October 13-15 I attended the annual prestigious Border League located mainly at Bishop Gorman HS and other surrounding high schools in NV.

Some of the top high school teams in the country were in attendance and many of the local teams challenged them. Like many events, there were some up and downs for the local teams but the competition they received will hopefully prepare them for their season.

Here were some of the standout PG's:

[player_tooltip player_id='1323290' first='Mason' last='Magee'] Basha

An athletic guard is a very good passer and the ball is on a string for him. He has an explosive first step to get to the basket and takes contact well. His live dribble passing stands out. His speed in the open court and on-ball defense is next level stuff. He has a high level mid-range pull-up after he creates the separation.

[player_tooltip player_id='1259623' first='Del' last='Jones'] AZ Compass Prep

A scoring lead guard with a stronger upper body. He has deep three point range with rainbow-like shots. He is a very good passer and is quick with the ball in his hands to burst past his defenders.

[player_tooltip player_id='1385291' first='Jeremiah' last='Fears'] AZ Compass Prep

A scoring point guard is a dimer. He is a step quicker than most. He makes passes with his left or right hand in stride. He can pull-up from mid-range and euro step to score. He is quick in the passing lanes and will throw it down on the break.

[player_tooltip player_id='1464982' first='Miles' last='Sadler'] Canyon International Academy

A pure point guard with incredible feel, speed and often will drive and kick it straight into a teammates shooting pocket. He uses his open court speed to turn the corner and get into the paint to score or to make a play.

[player_tooltip player_id='1366580' first='Justin' last='Garcia'] Basha

A nice role player off the bench is Garcia. He can handle ball pressure and score. He will get downhill with a quick burst and will hit the three off the catch in the corner. He also has quick hands on defense to pester his opponents.

[player_tooltip player_id='1124235' first='Marcus' last='Wilson'] Vella Vista Prep

The Washington State commit had a good weekend. He controls tempo and scores it. He is fast and skilled with pull-ups from mid to the three. He can blow by with either hand and is a good passer. His deep three point range makes him tough to defend.

[player_tooltip player_id='1354953' first='I'yar' last='Shadowvine'] Ironwood (Pictured)

The undersized point guard is tough. He can score off the dribble from the three and make the team go. He makes smart reads and moves the ball. He has deeper range on his shot and he made two clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
