Friday’s action pitted Great Oak against Rancho Verde, the aforementioned Sunnyslope against Oak Hills, Roosevelt against Hesperia, and Rancho Christian versus Centennial.
Jermaine had 21 points in Rancho Verde’s win over Great Oak on Friday afternoon. Washington was dynamic attacking the basket, showcased his ability to finish with either hand, and was effective in the mid range area as well.

Trestyne had 21 points and 4 threes in Rancho Verde’s win over Great Oak on Friday afternoon. Nguru caught fire in the second half, scoring 16 of his 21 points in the final two quarters. He shot the ball tremendously from the perimeter as a catch and shoot threat and also attacked hurried closeouts effectively.
Jon had 19 points and 3 threes in Sunnyslope’s win over Oak Hills on Friday afternoon. Mattingly came out firing with multiple three’s in the first quarter en route to a balanced scoring performance that saw him make an impact from the three point line, the free throw line, and in the paint. He is a great catch and shoot threat and has good body control.
Delton had 12 points and distributed the ball well in Sunnyslope’s win over Oak Hills on Friday afternoon. Prescott controlled the pace for the Vikings and provided a steady ball handling presence as he was able to get into the paint repeatedly to create easy opportunities for himself and teammates.
Isaac had 18 points and 4 threes in Roosevelt’s win over Hesperia on Friday evening. Williamson showcased his ever so smooth shooting stroke in this one as he was a constant threat from deep. He also played very well in transition and in the open court with or without the ball.
Brayden dominated on Friday evening in Roosevelt’s win over Hesperia to the tune of 35 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 threes, 2 steals, and 1 block. Burries has yet to score below 30 points in any of Roosevelt’s three games thus far and the breadth of his offensive vocabulary is the main reason why. He can truly hurt you from anywhere on the court, at any angle, and moving at any speed you want to go. Brayden also competes very hard on the defensive end and rebounds with authority.
Darnez had 16 points and 3 steals in Roosevelt’s win over Hesperia on Friday evening. Slater was terrific on the defensive end in this one as he repeatedly got stops, rebounds, and instinctually jumped passing lanes to create turnovers.
Isaiah had 21 points and 2 threes in Centennial’s win over Rancho Christian on Friday night. Rogers made a bevy of difficult shots around the basket underscoring his soft scoring touch and ability to create advantageous angles for himself in the face of defensive pressure. He also created well for his teammates was a catch and shoot threat from beyond the arc.
Eric had 2o points and 3 threes in Centennial’s win over Rancho Christian on Friday night. Freeny moved excellently without the ball to create space for himself beyond the three point line, showed good strength and touch to score inside, and played great defense.
Brian had 14 points and 2 threes in Rancho Christian’s tough loss to Centennial on Friday night. Amunueke looks to have grown since the last time I saw him play and showcased good strength inside defensively and offensively. He is a versatile defender and offensively showed a varied game as well as he was effective from 3 and in close.
