Gonzales has helped Robertson get into the state finals last year, among the leaders in points per game in 3A basketball. The guard will return as a key facilitator with Robertson, coming back as this group’s leader in points and assists per game. Following averages of 13.2 points and 2.3 assists per game. Gonzales did particularly well through his patience making plays, seeking out great looks for teammates over good looks for himself. Robertson should remain one of the top programs in 3A basketball, boasting quite a few high IQ players stepping into third and fourth years in the program.
Gonzales continues to provide value as a complementary shotmaker, actively attacking downhill following a closeout. The guard wastes no time getting downhill off the catch, seeking out drives all the way to the rim or with kickouts. He showed promise hitting spot-up threes while the defense continued to rotate over, not fazed by incoming contests. Throughout his time with one of the most potent programs in the state, Gonzales put up 7.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. No doubt the guard is taking on a larger role this coming season.
Oliver Tumolo
Oliver Tumolo
Tumolo wastes no time off the catch, quick to attack the open lane with a rip through following the catch. The guard keeps his head up for impending kickout passes, often utilizing overhead passes to launch to perimeter shotmakers. Certainly an excellent complementary facilitator, Tumolo continues to find value moving the ball around the halfcourt to keep a flow going. Through his sophomore season at Bosque, Tumolo put up 6.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
Adrian Gomez
Adrian Gomez
Gomez is a particularly productive help side defender, assertive digging into opponents’ space for steals. Often through hard hedges on ball screens, the guard works to take away driving lanes early. His active hands make Gomez a pesky defender, although he impacts in the game in other areas too. Active rebounding the ball on either end, the guard works hard on every possession. Already an efficient scorer inside the arc, Gomez picks his spots on offense, rarely forcing shot attempts. His continued growth scoring behind the arc will be a necessary component to his success at the next level and greater offensive usage. Through his previous season with Hot Springs, the guard posted 5.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
Kalu-Ulu is apart of a fairly young New Mexico Military Institute roster, although he showed immense value through his willingness to crash the glass on either end of the floor. Leading all 3A 2025s in rebounds per game this previous season, they will be worth a watch this season. Although excellent rebounding the ball, Kalu-Ulu scoring production next season will be particularly intriguing, potentially adding versatility to his game.
