Continue ReadingToday I had the opportunity to attend the Second Annual XposureRuns: Chitown Showcase. This Showcase was an invite only event, held in the middle of the city featuring players from across four different states. (IL, IN, IA, PA) Out of the 39 athletes that were in attendance, 8 of them are committed to compete at the Division-1 level already while 11 others currently hold Division-1 offers.
This event had a little bit of everything. It had high-level players, great people, a welcoming environment, and an atmosphere that you would need to see to believe. This Showcase is rapidly becoming one of the best throughout the city of Chicago and it’s only going to become more popular as time goes on. With that being said, over the next few days I will be highlighting multiple players from this event that stood out to me.
Whenever I am evaluating several different players at the same time at an event, I like to write down some “lives notes.” These notes are my way of remembering the player and what their capabilities are on the court. With these all being written down in real time, the notes tend to me more brief and to the point.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
“A determined and strong player. Understands his abilities and the spots he wants to get to the on offensive side of the floor. Very skilled with the ball in his hands. Shows the willingness to pass but more-so at his best when he is ball dominate. Will be an interesting fit at Cleveland State but someone who could workout to have a successful college career.”
“High ceiling player with a lot of athleticism. Doesn’t have to be on the ball to produce a majority of the time. Is selfless in his movements but displays aggression when he is downhill going toward the rim. Stands at 6’6 with a whole lot of bounce to mix in there. Very understandable that he would have colleges trying to bring him in. Seems like he could be a successful system player, who stands out in his own ways throughout the duration of a contest.”

“Little bit of everything from this one. Displays a balanced midrange shot with the ability to pivot off of it, if his defender ends up being able to contest successfully. Showed multiple counter moves off of the dribble under pressure. A player that I would categorize as a safe bet. He won’t hurt you throughout a contest with dumb mistakes and will always listen to what his coach is asking of him.”
“Didn’t have too many crazy moments in this event but can understand why he was invited. Balanced, coordinated, and fundamental shooting form from ANY range. Stands at 6’6 with some bounce going toward the rim in transition. Not familiar with him from the past but can see how his game translate to the high school/college floor. Has a good head on his shoulders.”

“Pure shooter. May not be falling at a high rate today but every time he lefts it go, it looks like it has a chance to go in. You can tell that he is not new to shooting the ball. Understands his body and his ability to a T. Understands when he is going to have space to let it go or not both in the half court and in the full court. Demonstrates quick side-to-side movement.”

“Very easy to see the ceiling and what he can become. Knowing his family, displays a lot of the same traits as his older brothers at the guard position. Crispy handle, smooth demeanor, and great attitude with the teammates around him. Was a little timid in this event but could turn into special player in the blink of an eye. Someone to know going forward.”
