He's a bigger guard that fits the mold of a combo guard. Marquis is very good at attacking gaps in the defense using quick side steps and euro moves in the lane. He's a good finisher at the rim, but the same can be said for his passing ability. Haynes made some on the spot passing to guys for layups and threes. His vison and touch leads me to believe he can take a couple of plays at the lead guard spot.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552408' first='TJ' last='Williams'] 6'2 Glenbard West 2026
Williams is another player that I got a chance to scout for the first time. I was impressed at how bouncy he was for his size. TJ had a couple of two handed slams that energized his team. But beyond his athleticism Williams is a pretty good player doing a good job at spacing when put in catch and shoot situations. On his drives to the cup he can maneuver in ways some players can't and still be balanced enough to score. For his size I can see TJ growing some more and becoming an impact guard / wing player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2245768' first='Elijah' last='Smith'] 5'5 Oak Lawn 2025
Maybe smallest player in camp, Elijah was good at breaking guys down off the dribble and serving dime after dime in this second game. Smith is an unselfish guard who can get in the lane and create opportunities for teammates. Elijah made some shots from three off the dribble and also looked good in a catch and shoot position. What I liked the most about Smith is that he never let his stature stop him from competing against bigger players.

[player_tooltip player_id='2245716' first='Wade' last='Anthony David'] 5'10 Von Stueben 2024
David plays with a lot of confidence. He puts guys in the right spot on offense but that ultimately sets up open spaces for him to attack to score. Wade is three level scoring point guard who plays at a frantic but controlled pace. He's a smaller guard who can help out a college program at the next level.

Aidan Dilosa 5'10 Merrillville 2025
Dilosa was another under-the-radar skilled guard who played really well at his own pace. Aidan is comfortable playing in pick n roll action usually looking to make the assist. Dilosa has a good basketball IQ and made the right play in transition. His shot is very smooth and he didn't seem to rush it at all with defenders flying at him. Aidan is more substance the flash on the court but every now and then he dropped a nice dime. A Northwest Indiana prospect to monitor.

[player_tooltip player_id='2245704' first='Derek' last='Atter'] 6'1 Von Stueben 2024
Atter is a strong guard who excelled on fastbreaks. He pushed the tempo after his own rebounds or outlet passes from teammates. Derek had direct line to the rim any time he got space to push. Atter moves well on defense cutting ball handlers off with his lateral movement. Can be a helpful prospect at a JUCO next season.

Here is a look at the some of the top guards that I watched from our Prep Hoops Illinois Top 250 camp.

Robert Seto 5'9 Taipei American School 2025
Seto is a bit on the smaller size but he had a positive impact in his games. He's a picky defender that always seemed to be near the ball whether it was off a rebound or loose ball. Robert was very active getting multiple steals and pass deflections. Offensively he set the pace of his team and hit open shots when they were available.

JR Swift 5'10 Proviso East 2026
Swift is a dynamic guard that played with a continuous motor throughout the day. He's quick in the open court making timely moves as he looked to score on fastbreaks. When JR wasn't pushing the pace, he looked good making shots from the perimeter, hitting a pair of threes in the game I watched. Swift seems to be another name to add to the ever-growing list of 2026 players.

Marquis Haynes Marquis Haynes 6'0" Rockford Lutheran | 2024 IL Rockford 2024 6'2
I liked what I saw from Haynes on Saturday.

TJ Williams TJ Williams TJ Williams 6'4" | SG Bolingbrook | 2026 State IL 6'2 Glenbard West 2026

Elijah Smith Elijah Smith Elijah Smith 5'5" Oak Lawn Community | 2025 IL 5'5 Oak Lawn 2025

Wade Anthony David Wade Anthony David 5'10" Von Steuben MSC | 2024 IL 5'10 Von Stueben 2024

Derek Atter Derek Atter 6'0" Von steuben | 2024 IL 6'1 Von Stueben 2024
Atter is a strong guard who excelled on fastbreaks. He pushed the tempo after his own rebounds or outlet passes from teammates. Derek had direct line to the rim any time he got space to push. Atter moves well on defense cutting ball handlers off with his lateral movement. Can be a helpful prospect at a JUCO next season.
