The event takes place Oct 13th -15. Hosted at the state-of-the-art PHHacility, this event offers young athletes a platform to showcase their skills and passion for the game. With a reputation for its competitive spirit and sportsmanship, the Southwest Slam brings together talented youth teams from across the Southwest. The morning highlighted several talented players. In a follow up to our Saturday Morning Standouts Here’s a look at the standout players from the evening session.

Carmelo Tillman
Tillman of the fighting Tillmans was entertaining to watch. It seemed like the PG couldn’t miss no matter where he shot it from. He was accurate, launching from deep. Making several threes on the day. Perhaps his best play was a slick baseline spin move that resulted in nothing but dropped jaws. He was easily one of the top evening standouts.

Maxi Lew
Maxi Lew
Lewis was extremely productive doing both the little and big things. He came up with a ton of in traffic rebounds as well as more than a few 50/50’s. In addition to his hustle, he also impacted games with his scoring ability around the rim. Lew showed terrific patients on post ups, scoring the ball by consistently turning over his left shoulder for low post buckets

Grey Dwyer
The Dwyer vs Lew matchup was fun to watch. It was also fun watching Dwyer protect the rim as the big man did a remarkable job deterring shots. Quiet as kept he also was effective putting the ball on the ground, showing a glimpse of some sneaky handle. Overall he proved to be a player with some of the most potential on the day.

Peyton Jacobsen
Peyton Jacobsen
Jacobsen held the distinction of being one of the tallest players on the floor, and most skilled. She was a knock down shooter in catch and shoot action, showing off a quick release and smooth stroke. Her size allowed her to grab several in traffic rebounds allowing her to increase her scoring with putback baskets.

Simean Quintero
Simean Quintero
I wouldn’t call Quintero a quiet assassin as he had no problem letting you know he was cooking. However he compiled buckets so rapidly that they almost went unnoticed. He had a stretch where he buried multiple corner threes, got a putback, scored two transition buckets and got an and 1. In case you’re scoring at home, that’s 15 points en route to helping his club to a victory. His play was one of the top evening revelations.
