This led to a great weekend of competitive basketball that gave teams a chance to measure themselves against opponents they wouldn’t normally face during the high school season.
Andre is a strong, talented lefty who consistently contributes on both ends. Gomez performed well this weekend and was attacking the basket with good aggression, creating extra chances by grabbing offensive rebounds, and earning trips to the free throw line. He is also a versatile defender thanks to his quickness and upper body strength.
Cameron showcased his ability to score this weekend in a variety of ways. He is a plus athlete and has long arms which allows him to finish creatively in the paint, opponents have to respect his 3 point shooting, and he can out muscle smaller defenders in the post. Holmes also has good instincts on the defensive end and contributes with rebounds, steals, and deflections.
Rider is a great “Swiss army knife” perimeter player. He rebounds the ball on offense and defense and is defensively versatile due to his long arms and athleticism. Portela has a varied offensive game as well as he is a threat from 3, can pull up in the mid range area, and has good touch around the basket.
Darius possesses tremendous size and touch for someone his age and uses it effectively to influence the game on both ends. He blocks shots, controls the glass, and is already a good defender in the post. Wabbington can also stretch the floor and shoot the 3, has a good touch around the basket, and understands how to use his wide frame to gain valuable position in the paint.
Adrian is a quick guard who moves very well without the ball to create layup and 3 point shooting chances on offense. He is also very effective in transition, and has good touch around the basket. Higuera is a promising young freshman who projects to be a nice role player for Millennium.
