Take a look at the current rankings here. The junior year is also known as the breakout one. Let’s take a look at these 2025’s poised for a breakout year.
He was impressive this summer. The guard can defend his position, and is a terrific downhill driver. If he proves to be the consistent paint touch getter that he was in the summer, anticipate a breakout season and possible rise in the rankings for him.
Playing a hunch on this one. Carmona plays for a program that will be involved in a ton of big games. He has good offensive skills, and the moxie to perform when called on. Be on the lookout for him breaking out by providing valuable clutch minutes for the Gaels.
The 6’4 foward has gotten valuable varsity minutes in his first two season. He’s a player with a ton of potential, and this just may be the breakout year for it. He doesn’t necesarrily have to show it by scoring, if he can increase his boards and blocks, be on the lookout for a breakout.
Raved about Nelson over the Summer months, a strong high school campaign may await him. He’s big enough to defend interior players, and agile enough to guard wings. His ability to finish has increased, and he competes hard typically scoring by sprinting and finishing in transition. These traits applied to the season, will increase his breakout chances.
Excited to watch Walker this season. He’s put in the work, both on his body and his craft, and now seems the perfect time for it to pay off. He’ll get an opportunity to be a low post threat for a BC team, loaded with shooters. Looking for all around production improvement which will lead to a definite breakout for him.
Highlights
Duke is going to be on my all Microwave team. The lefty is a dynamic scorer looking to piggyback off of a solid sophomore season. Expect him to make shots, however the timeing of them may be key to his potential breakout.
Brigance was extremely productive when I saw him in the summer. He has the ability to score in transition and off downhill drives in half court. He’s going to get an opportunity to test those skills against 5A competition this season. If he plays with the same level of production as he did this summer, then a breakout may just be on the horizon.
