Basketball season is rapidly approaching, but October means football season is in full gear.

A scan of the Prep Hoops basketball rankings reveals some guys who are highly coveted football recruits. These guys are making college visits and hearing from football coaches all over the country. So let's shine a light on some of the state's most highly sought after football recruits who are also ranked basketball stars:

#30 – [player_tooltip player_id='1953932' first='Michael' last='Boganowski'], 6-foot-2 guard, 2024, Junction City:

Widely considered the top football prospect of the 2024 class, Boganowski is keeping everyone waiting. He seemed close to making a decision between his top schools – reportedly Kansas, Kansas State and Oklahoma – way back in the summer. But his decision is still pending. Boganowski put his football athleticism to good use on the basketball court last year, leading the Blue Jays to state, topping the team in scoring with 12 points per game. He's a beast on the glass, a nightmare on defense and runs the floor with great speed and athleticism.

#50 – [player_tooltip player_id='1580488' first='Jackson' last='Voth'], 5-foot-11 guard, 2024, Cheney:

A highly-skilled receiver with sneaky athleticism and a ton of intelligence, Voth is headed to New Mexico State next year. On the court, he's a top-flight shooter and scrapy competitor.

#61 – [player_tooltip player_id='1378441' first='Gus' last='Hawkins'], 6-foot-6 center, 2024, Mill Valley (pictured):

One of the foundational blocks of the Kansas State football recruiting class, Hawkins is an agile, technical offensive lineman who started his high school career known more for his hoops talents. Had he stayed at Scott Community High School, he would have been one of the top basketball centers in the state. But at football powerhouse Mill Valley, he's on his way to a good football career at the next level.

#102 – [player_tooltip player_id='1270302' first='BJ' last='Canady'], 6-foot-5 power forward, 2024, Topeka High:

Canady's journey has been a tough one. As a freshman, he started at quarterback for the Trojans, then showed a ton of potential on the basketball court. He was one of the top-rated players in the class when we debuted the 2024 rankings in fall of his sophomore year. But since then, injuries have limited his time on the playing field. He hasn't played much basketball since his freshman season. That didn't keep college football coaches from finding his size/agility/coordination intriguing. He's hovered near the top of football recruiting lists throughout his career. He plans to announce his college choice soon.

Others:

Kaedin Massey and Gavin Hoffman just missed out on getting ranked in the most recent update. They will most likely crack the next update in the winter. That is, if they decided to play another season of basketball. They were both fast-rising football recruits over the summer, with Massey ultimately choosing K-State and Hoffman committing to Iowa. There's a chance they will opt out of their senior basketball season. The #38 player in the class, running back [player_tooltip player_id='1580478' first='TJ' last='Porter'], is not quite at the level of football interest as those on this list, but he's certainly one of the best football players in the senior class, as well as a burner of a point guard.
