Prep Hoops Florida is taking a look at the preseason all-state teams for the upcoming season. We have a lot of new faces in new places this season and are excited to tip-off next month. Here are some of the top players to watch for in Class 2A this season:
Lorenzo Cason, A 6-3 senior point guard and Florida Atlantic commit is a tough guard and can score on all three levels. He controls the game exceptionally well from the point guard position by making smart decisions when he has the basketball in his hands. He is very aggressive on the offensive end where he can finish while absorbing contact at the front of the rim. On the defensive end, Cason can guard multiple positions and recover exceptionally well with his improved footwork. Look for Cason to have a big senior season on both ends of the floor for Victory Christian.
Highlights
Isaiah Brown, A 6-5 senior combo guard and University of Florida commit brings us a left-handed shooting stroke where he can score in a variety of ways. Brown is always making the unselfish plays on the offensive end as well as he makes crisp passes to open teammates and slashes well without the basketball. His defensive game has continued to improve as well as he showcases great length and is a big-time athlete on both ends of the floor.
Highlights
Ramone Seals, A 6-4 guard and recent Kennesaw State commit is a strong as well as an athletic guard who can get to open spots scoring off the catch. He is also dangerous off of dribble-drives using his aggressiveness where he can finish above the rim as well as an above-average rebounder. On the defensive end, Seals plays with a ton of physicality where he can guard multiple positions as well as having a knack for jumping the passing lanes. Expecting Seals to have a big senior season and wouldn’t be surprised if we hear his name mentioned to the All-State Teams at the end of the year.
Jasen Lopez
Jasen Lopez
Jasen Lopez, A 5-11 sophomore guard who is one of the top two-way prospects in his class and will be an intriguing prospect to watch the next three years. Last summer, Lopez played for SOH Elite and put up some efficient numbers on the offensive end and has one of the smoothest shooting strokes I’ve seen. His ability to score off of the bounce and off the catch have continued to improve as he is efficient from beyond the arc. Lopez currently holds offers from FIU and Hofstra, but don’t expect those to be his last offers either as his recruitment process is just getting started.
Toni Bryant, A 6-10 sophomore power forward has continued to develop his game into being a true three-level scorer. His defense is very versatile as he uses a ton of length whether it’s dominating the glass or blocking shots. On the offensive end, Bryant is a force on the block where he can finish above the rim as well as expanding his game into a mid-range form. Bryant has picked up offers from Arizona State, Dayton, Eastern Illinois, Iowa, South Florida and several others.
Damon Folds, A 5-10 senior combo guard is an absolute magician when he has the basketball in his hands, as he is a pure pass-first guard. He can also score from all three levels showing his limitless range from beyond the arc. He is a proven leader on the floor where he can impact the game without the basketball in his hands as he shows good movement. He led the state averaging over nine assists per game last season for Morningside Academy.
Ameer Ramadan, A 6-0 senior point guard is a solid decision maker when he has the basketball in his hands and plays very unselfish making extra passes to open teammates. He showcases great size and athleticism where he can score from beyond the arc as well as at the rim on a very high level. He can do a variety of things on the defensive end as well as apply good ball pressure and is very active guarding positions 1 through 3. Ramadan has also improved his activity in the passing lanes where he is starting to get tips and deflections. Look for Ramadan to have a big senior season as he has the intangibles to become a next level prospect.
Highlights
Jordyn Kee, A 6-4 guard who has great court vision and is multi-talented where he can score above the rim as well as off the bounce. On the offensive end, Kee is very explosive when he is attacking downhill while absorbing contact. On the defensive end, Kee can guard multiple positions using his length and quickness out on the perimeter as he can force the opposition into taking tough shots. He has returned to Florida and will be playing for the Class 2A reigning state champs Sagemont this upcoming season after playing at Legacy Early College in South Carolina last year.
