Preseason Player of the Year: 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1751110' first='Reece' last='Vander Zee'] (Central Lyon)

Vander Zee is the best player on a Central Lyon team that we project to beat the team to beat in the Siouxland again this season, despite heavy personnel losses. An athletic 6-6 forward who can score inside with ease or stretch the floor, he's really difficult to slow down when he gets it rolling.

First Team

2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1751110' first='Reece' last='Vander Zee'] (Central Lyon): 17.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.2 steals, 61.8 FG%, 48.1 3P%

Vander Zee was the third option for the Lions last season and put up huge numbers, so while there may be some questions about how he'll adjust to being the go-to weapon, the skill set here is really tough for opposing teams to slow down.

2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1376686' first='Jesse' last='Van Kalsbeek'] (MOC-Floyd Valley): 20.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.8 steals, 59.5 FG%, 42.0 3P%, 72.5 FT%

One of the most efficient scorers in the state, Van Kalsbeek put up huge numbers as a junior for the Dutchmen. He's a 6-2 guard who can really shoot it, but he prefers to play downhill and get to the rim. He can score in bunches or create looks for his teammates.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1765526' first='Carter' last='Kleinwolterink'] (Boyden-Hull): 13.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.1 steals, 75.4 FT%

Kleinwolterink was really good as a freshman for a Comets team that was very inexperienced, leading the team in scoring and rebounding, and ranking second in assists. He's a multifaceted wing who can score inside and out, create for his teammates, and he provides some value as a defender with his length and quickness.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1759936' first='Carson' last='Hoogeveen'] (West Lyon): 12.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.6 steals, 47.7 3P%

A high IQ guard who does a great job protecting the ball and getting his teammates involved, Hoogeveen posted a 2.75 assist-to-turnover ratio as a sophomore for the Wildcats and was great during the summer for a very successful [program_tooltip program_id='2076356' first='Arena' last='Basketball Club'] 16U team.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1874768' first='Braeden' last='Bosma'] (Unity Christian): 14.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.6 steals, 47.9 FG%

Unity Christian joins the Siouxland this season, taking the place of George-Little Rock, and the Knights will be led by the Bosma brothers, a pair of talented combo guards who can play with or without the ball in their hands. Braeden is a tough guard who plays downhill and gets to the rim at a high clip.

Second Team

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1426697' first='Ephraim' last='Hoefert'] (Central Lyon)

2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1376708' first='Cael' last='Van Beek'] (Sioux Center)

2024 [player_tooltip player_id='2325556' first='Trevor' last='Ciesielski'] (West Lyon)

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2413578' first='Dylan' last='Bosma'] (Unity Christian)

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2398061' first='Blake' last='Aalbers'] (MOC-Floyd Valley)

Honorable Mentions

2024 Blake Moser (Boyden-Hull)
2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1376697' first='Carson' last='Bruhn'] (Sioux Center)
2025 Bryson Childress (West Lyon)
2024 Nathan Van Otterloo (Boyden-Hull)
2024 Alic Salazar (Rock Valley)
2025 Caleb Simington (Okoboji)
2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1765545' first='Kaden' last='Van Schepen'] (Rock Valley)
2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1523401' first='Ahman' last='Langton'] (MOC-Floyd Valley)
2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1951793' first='Owen' last='Vander Pol'] (MOC-Floyd Valley)
2024 Briggs Friedmann (Sioux Center)
2024 Jase Jostand (Okoboji)
2024 Ryan Vollink (Sheldon)
2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1874781' first='Jackson' last='Vogel'] (Unity Christian)
2024 Sam Schnepf (Sibley-Ocheyedan)
2024 Andreu Kolbeck (Sheldon)
2026 Ben Byers (Sibley-Ocheyedan)
