A lot of good competition took place this past weekend in Wayne New Jersey, at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo. Here we look at 5 playmakers from the event.
[player_tooltip player_id='1407196' first='Jeremiah' last='Williams'], High School Bound Brook, HT 6'2, Class 2024, Position CG
Jeremiah was in attack mode on Saturday. He was aggressive getting downhill and getting to basket. He also shot well from three point range, hitting shots off the dribble, and off the catch. Jeremiah likes to play up tempo and is good in the open floor. Jeremiah was able to draw the defensive pressure, and then find the open teammate. Jeremiah is an uncommitted 2024 prospect, that should be on coaches radar.
[player_tooltip player_id='1628860' first='Isaiah' last='Gore'], High School Trenton Catholic, Class 2026, HT 6'2, Position CG
Gore showed he has the abilities to score in bunches. He is a Guard with good length for the position. He has good handles, and a quick first step. He was able to get 2 feet in the paint, and finish through contact. He was effective playing in transition or in the half court. Gore is on my list for players who could have a breakout Sophomore season.
Dylan Hosford, High School Richfield Springs Central, Class 2024, HT 6'3, Position G
Going into his Senior season, Dylan has already scored over 1,200 points. He is the schools all time leading scorer. He has not lost a step since his injury last season. He can score in bunches, and is a three level scorer. He has a competitive drive that you can't teach. He can run the offense, and has a high basketball IQ. He follows his shot, and rebounds the ball really well for a Guard. He was constantly looking for the next pass on Saturday, and did a good job creating his own shot. Dylan is another uncommitted 2024 prospect from the event, that college coaches should look at.
[player_tooltip player_id='1943560' first='Zach' last='Epp'], High School Westfield, HT 6'2, Class 2025, Position CG
Zach was a playmaker on both sides of the ball on Saturday. He was a slasher attacking from the wing. He finished well through contact, and has a variety of finishing moves at the rim. He also shot well from three point range. He played under control and with confidence. Defensively he was strong defending on the ball, and had 2 chase down blocks. Zach is a high academic student, and if you are a coach at a high academic division three school, you should be watching him.
[player_tooltip player_id='1162656' first='Jerrel' last='Alston'], High School Immaculata, HT 5'11, Position PG, Class 2024,
Jarrel is a tough Guard. At the Expo he used his tight handles, and change of speed to get by the defender, and get in the paint. He can run the offense for your team. He has a quick first step, and shows flashes of being a scorer, and flashes of being a facilitator. He is also very quick moving laterally on defense, when defending the ball handlers.
