Prep Hoops Indiana was in the gym all day on Sunday and got to see all of the action that took place. Players were in from all parts of the state so we got to see a wide range of talent. With that said, here are my standouts from week 1.
Glover is a forward that I thought showed a great motor and used his strength and athleticism to make plays on both end of the floor. He showed an ability to guard multiple spots while also getting down the floor and making plays in transition. Just an overall strong finisher and high energy player.
Isaiah Oetjen (Indianapolis Home School – 2024 – 6’0 – Guard) – Oetjen is easily the most unknown player on this list but man was this guy an electric shooter. In both of the games he played in, he was hitting shot after shot from 15ft and out. Was consistently scoring it both off of the dribble wile also creating his own shot as well. Shifty guard that can make plays.
Kenneth Lampley Kenneth Lampley 6'6" | SF Tindley | 2027 State IN III (Indianapolis Tindley – 2027 – 6’4 – Forward) – As far as long term potential, nobody has more on this standout list than the freshman forward out of Tindley. For his age, his size and length really stands out while also showing potential as a hybrid post/wing. Puts the ball on the ground and attacked the lanes very hard and aggressive.
Elijah Sanders (Indianapolis Tech – 2024 – 6’5 – Power Forward) – Sanders was one of the most physical power forwards I watched on the day. Was fantastic finishing through contact while also going after nearly every rebounds both ends of the floor. Gave his team many second chance points and was playing with a high motor on both ends. He has transfer to Indianapolis Tech for his senior year coming from George Washington.
Harris gets my vote as the best player I watched on the day. The sophomore guard out of Indianapolis Tech fantastic on the ball and did such a great job creating scoring opportunities for both himself and his teammates. He displayed some sharp court vision and proved to be a consistent three-level scorer with his speed on the ball and ability to create. So much upside with Harris long term.
Jayden Ford Jayden Ford 6'11" | PF BFL Prep | 2024 State WA – (Indianapolis Tech – 2024 – 6’6 – PF) – Ford may have been the most athletic player in the gym on Sunday. At 6’6, Ford showed his incredible versatility at both wing as well as attacking the lane and finishing with highlight level dunks over the defenders. He was extremely bouncy on both ends of the floor and contested nearly every shot on the defensive end which resulted in multiple blocks throughout the day. Could be in for a breakout season coming up at Tech. Lot of quality tools he plays with.
Highlights
Webster may have not stuffed the stat sheet scoring wise this week, but he did all the little things at such a high level. His motor was excellent throughout both games and attacked the glass so well on both ends. Had some clutch rebounds and free throws down the stretch that pushed his team win in OT in their first game. The left-handed guard is a sneaky athletic player that never takes plays off and can finish around the rim well. Every team needs a player like Webster.
Highlights
Darrell is a sophomore guard that has a lot of maturity to his game already at his age. He was arguably the toughest player on his team in week one as he was always locked in on the defensive end as well being super aggressive attacking the basket. He is extremely shifty on the ball and works well off the ball to get open and has the potential to be one of the best catch-and-shoot guards in the state as his high school career takes off. Darrell is a name to keep an eye on.
If you want to talk about upside, Bloomington North’s Jalen Williams Jalen Williams 6'4" | SG Bloomington North | 2026 State IN has all the upside in the world. He has all the athletic, physical tools you want out of wing plus the ability to play super well in the transition game. He also played with high motor and made some extremely tough shots down the stretch in both of his game. He brings a lot of spark into a game and makes plays to get his teammates energy up. Still a little raw in some aspects but he has a real chance to be very good.
Rogers Jr. was one of the more consistent guards I watched on the day. Plays with extremely good pace and does a good job of changing up speed on the ball. He used his stronger frame to bully his way through the defense at times while also showing off deep range from beyond the arc. Smart player and plays his role very well.
