Here are 10 sleepers for the junior class to look out for:
Jayce McGuirk Jayce McGuirk 6'2" | CG Phhoenix Prep | 2025 State AZ Phhoenix Prep
He has quietly put together a good year for himself. He had a good year in club and has shined early in the Fall Ball games. He has pure stroke from the three point line and has put on more muscle to his frame. He is surprisingly athletic and often uses it to rebound out of his area. He is also made huge strides as an on-ball defender.
Cullen Schreiner Cullen Schreiner 6'6" | SF Basha | 2025 State AZ Basha
He missed last year with an injury and is ready to make a leap up. He grew seemingly overnight about four inches and he can still shoot it. He has a picture perfect stroke from the three point line and he should impact an already good 6A team.
Trey Chemin Trey Chemin 6'6" | PF Cactus Shadows | 2025 State AZ Cactus Shadows
A high motored undersized four-man is shockingly athletic. He can throw it down way above the rim with a quick leap up. He rebounds in and out of his area with plus activity and will even create his own offense or face up from mid to the occasional three.
Jayden Blasczyk Bradshaw Mountain
A long and very tall true five man who has good genetics. His mom was a star volleyball player and he moves very well from end to end. He has long arms and comes with athleticism and some skill. He blocks many shots in his area and will rebound in bunches. He scores on dunks, put backs and will hit the three in rhythm.
Tyran Simpson Tyran Simpson 6'2" | SG Deer Valley | 2025 State AZ Deer Valley
A high wire act is a long quick twitched defensive guard. He is their top junior in a talented West Valley program. He is a show on the break and covers a lot of ground to defend. He likes getting to the rim and he will defend multiple positions.
Kaden Gullhuir Kaden Gullhuir 6'0" | CG Mountain Pointe | 2025 State AZ Mountain Pointe
A recent newcomer for me is a versatile combo guard who is finding his groove as a player. He can score getting downhill with a quick burst of speed and good strength to absorb the contact. He is a very good on-ball defender with his lateral quickness and can make an open three.
Adam Chaffin Adam Chaffin 6'4" | SF Trevor Browne | 2025 State AZ Trevor Browne
A sharp shooting wing forward with a little size. He has a picture perfect stroke and a very quick shooting release. He has range and can shot fake and dribble drive to the basket. He is one of the players I am looking forward in seeing on my yearly AIA trek of the city.
Asher Perez Asher Perez 6'1" | CG AZ College Prep | 2025 State AZ AZ College Prep
A tough minded combo guard can score and make plays. He is their lead guard but can play off the ball to score it. He has a shifty handle to create space and get to the rim or he can pull-up from mid-range off the dribble. He should have a big year for the improving 4A program in the East Valley.
Blake Sosnowitz Blake Sosnowitz 5'10" | PG Phoenix Country Day | 2025 State AZ Phoenix Country Day
A pure point guard has his head up the entire game looking to make a play. He is undersized but understands how to change speeds and his passing is next level stuff. He sprays the ball all over the court and makes them better. He also comes with legit volleyball line three point range and has an inner swagger about him.
Jeremiah Robertson Jeremiah Robertson 6'5" | PF Casteel | 2025 State AZ Casteel (Pictured)
An improving 5A East Valley team has some good non-seniors to lean on including Robertson. The high energy undersized power forward seems to be everywhere on defense. He will cover a guard then move down in the post and hold his own with his length and fluidity. He runs well and is a very good athlete. He scores it in transition, offensive rebound put backs and can hit some perimeter jumpers as well. His best ball is ahead of him.
