The Prep Hoops Missouri Freshman Showcase was held on Saturday afternoon at the Principia School in St. Louis. It was a good group of talented young prospects at the showcase. Here is a look at our “Starting Five” from the Freshman Showcase by their positions.
Guard – Will Foulk (DeSmet): A 5’11” point guard who combines excellent playmaking skills with his ability to score at all three levels. He has tremendous shooting range that extends well beyond the 3-point line; and he hit several of them during the day. He can also create his own shot off the dribble as he was shaking defenders to get to the mid-range area and draining jumpers. He also had some nifty passes, which included no-look dimes that led to easy baskets for his teammates. He is rarely sped up and he gets to his spots whenever he wants to.

Guard – Tyler Clark (St. Mary’s): A 5’11” guard who played at one speed throughout the showcase and it was at “Full Tilt Boogie.” He stayed on the attack from the beginning of the event to the end and he was nearly impossible to keep out of the lane. He easily led the event in straight-line drives for buckets. The young man’s motor never stopped as he also had some nice acrobatic finishes in traffic. When a second or third defender rotated over, he found the open teammate with a good pass. He also had good reaction and instincts on the defensive end.

Guard – Jayden Woods Jayden Woods 6'2" | SG Lutheran St Charles | 2027 State MO (Lutheran-St. Charles): The 6’2″ guard was the most explosive athlete in the event and he displayed his leaping ability with a number of entertaining dunks that put a charge in the building. He was constantly on the attack and putting pressure on defenses with his slashing ability. If he wasn’t scoring at the rim, he was drawing the defense and making the pass to the open teammate, which was the right play. He played with a motor that was humming at both ends of the court.
******
Forward – Tyler Ray (MICDS): A 6’2″ small forward who plays the Draymond Green role for his team with his physical strength and versatility. He has the perimeter skills to handle the ball like a playmaker and make good decisions. He really passed the ball well and looked for open teammates. He also had the strength and battle opposing bigs in the post. He was snatching strong rebounds and leading the break. He also had the ability to score inside, either on the drive or the offensive rebound.
******
Forward: Parker Hoffman Parker Hoffman 6'6" | PF Marquette | 2027 State MO (Marquette): The 6’6″ forward was the best frontcourt prospect in the camp. He has a long, slender frame, but that doesn’t keeping him from playing very assertively in the paint. He didn’t mind the physical contact inside. He was making tough catches inside and finishing well while keeping the ball up high. He could score with either hand with equal effectiveness. He was also scoring on some impressive rim-runs as he showcased his mobility. When he started really feeling good, he would step out and hit a 3-pointer off the catch.
