As the high school basketball season approaches, it’s important to provide coaches and readers with a clear understanding of reliable insights into up-and-coming athletes, and that’s exactly what Prep Hoops Florida aims to provide in this series. So sit back, relax, and get ready to learn about some of the notable risers around the state.
The 6-4 rising sophomore will be playing for Edgewater High after making the move from Ocoee. Since then, he’s only put his name on the radar as a high-motor prospect who can be a scoring threat this fall season. He’s an athletic guard with incredible speed and jumping ability to get by defenders and finish at the rim ferociously. That high-flying ability translates to the defensive end as well as he isn’t afraid to rack up some blocks on opposing guards. He’s a prospect to have on your radar because of his overall bag and upside heading into the fall. Film: https://x.com/dtpent1/status/1681513615768027136?s=46&t=E0s2L9z46AqxWmKm25SmTQ
Daniels pops on film as an athletic guard prospect who can jump out of the gym and play with a DOG mentality on offense and defense. The King High product is an iso threat at the top of the key that blows by defenders with slick handles or electric speed. The rising sophomore is a smaller guard at 6’0, 150-pound but don’t let it fool you as he can shoot the rock and get to the rim with flashy agility. Daniels will be an important piece for King this fall season. Film: https://x.com/lionspride_bb/status/1708837842611241026?s=46&t=E0s2L9z46AqxWmKm25SmTQ
A lot of quality aspects to Taylor’s game when watching his film. He’s a 6’6 forward product who has flashes decent athleticism during the off-season where he throws down rim grazers and one-leg slams. Taylor is a beast in transition because of his good motor and speed while he can also stretch the perimeter with a good stroke from three-range. He picked up a recent offer from Lagrange College and should see an uptick in interest heading into his senior season with overall development on both ends of the ball. https://x.com/btielite/status/1709178747310502124?s=46&t=E0s2L9z46AqxWmKm25SmTQ
William Medina
William Medina
Medina is a true point guard product that can be a quick-release deadeye Sniper at the next level. It’s not just the shooting ability that’s underrated but the leadership qualities and floor general tendencies are most slept on. Just watch the film, the 5’8 rising junior is a DOG that’s now on the Polk County Watch List. https://x.com/_medinawilliam/status/1694075757213929901?s=46&t=E0s2L9z46AqxWmKm25SmTQ
Julian DeClou
Julian DeClou
DeClou is a rising sophomore with plenty of time to grow into his frame and develop his overall bag. When watching his film, it’s the fearlessness and consistent jumper that stood out. He’s put together a productive off-season playing in various events where he showed off his ability to be a real scoring threat for Hagerty this fall season. He’s listed at 6’4 but as mentioned he has to grow into his body which will open up even more opportunities on both ends of the floor.
