Amar Augillard 6’5 – Triton (Zion Benton)
Amar is a physically imposing player who can score with anyone in the country. In the game we watched he did a good job at mixing things up. Strong drives through contact and has few college-level three-pointers. Always been a high-volume scoring threat mid-majors will be involved.
Quentin Heady 6’6 South Suburban (Hillcrest)
Heady has always had that tough JUCO game. Physical slasher with shot-making capabilities. Quentin’s key play of the day was him getting a steal on one end and scoring in a pack of trees.
Amarion Johnson 6’8 Moraine Valley (Tinley Park)
Amarion looked much improved since last season. He scored easily on the block using a simple drop step in the lane into a hook. What was the biggest improvement was his activity on defense as he blocked many shots at the rim but also was able to get a closeout block from a player on the perimeter. Johnson seems to be catching on at the right time.
Enari Thomas 6’0” Moraine Valley (Marshall)
Thomas is cat quick guard who got in the lane whenever he wanted. He did a good job beating guys with his first step and blowing past defenders. Enari is one of those crafty guards who has good body control in the air and can spin the ball different ways off the backboard. His shot was good from the three and mid-range. His eye-opening plays came from the springy dunks he completed in transition.
Damarcies Moore 6’6 Daley (Longwood)
Moore has improved his shot since his days in Chicago. I watched him score several open three-pointers. He seems to be very comfortable on the wing and he even made a guy freeze when making a play off the dribble. Damarcies can be helpful in a good D2 program.
Joel Brown 6’8 Rock Valley (Marshall)
Brown has slimmed down some since we saw him at our Prep Hoops event. Joel still has tremendous force in the paint. He has good footwork and good hands around the rim. Snatches rebounds with a purpose and has shown to be a really good passer out of the post. Should be a quality D1 post-player after next season.
Jayden Watson 6’7 Don Bosco Prep (Bloom)
Watson looks pretty good as a versatile wing player. Jayden’s shot still looked on point and he was very active on the boards. What caught people’s attention was the fact that his length and agility helped him cover multiple positions on defense. As a post-grad playing well against college guys he has a good chance of landing a solid LM.
Non IHSA players
Joshua Ray 6’6 Kankakee CC.
Ray has the athleticism and physique of a D1 prospect. His game matched the look as a bouncy forward who had many dunks including one poster off vertical. Joshua shot the ball well and was very active on defense. Ray played with a consistent motor and with an edge. Local D1s should check him out.
Joshua Bocher 6’5 Kishwaukee CC. (Wisc)
Joshua caught my attention while I was watching another game. He played with a ball of energy and is a crazy athlete. It seemed like every time I took my eyes off the court Bocher had another dunk that excited the whole gym. Joshua plays in the post and from the wing. He showed good basketball instincts and looked to be a solid distributor when he was double-teamed.
Lucas Burton 6’8 – Kankakee CC (Tx)
Lucas is a long and athletic wing player who had some moments. He showed good touch on his jump-shot. Looked to be better in catch-and-shoot situations instead of off the dribble. Burton eye-catching moment was off a steal that he intercepted at half-court that developed into a two-handed slam on a defender. Shows some low D1 and D2 potential.
