Today we will headline the top five centers still looking for a place to call home for the next three-four years.
Ian Smikle, A 6-8 center with a ton of length and plays with a high motor on both ends of the floor where he finishes efficiently around the rim on both sides. Smikle is a highly-talented prospect who can play multiple positions as he has continued to improve his confidence shooting from the outside on the offensive end of the floor. On the defensive end, Smikle has emerged as one of the top rim protectors in the senior class using his long reach to dominate on the glass. Look for Smikle to have an emerging senior season as college coaches have drawn interest in him.
Emin Kara, A 6-8 center will be playing for North Broward Prep this upcoming season after spending the summer playing for the Turkish U17 National Team where he is a dominate presence on the interior. Kara has a smooth game where he has continued to improve his mid-range game as well. On the defensive end, he is an elite rim protector using his length to limit the opposition from getting second chance scoring opportunities.
Olivier Rioux, A 7-5 senior center with an outstanding reach who has great hands and footwork for his size. Rioux is a traditional back-to-the-basket player who can dunk the basketball without having to leave the ground. He is an elite rebounder who has shown a ton of consistency at both ends of the floor. Rioux has received interest from numerous schools at the high D-1 level where his versatility and length have spoken for themselves during the recruitment period.
Sylvester Lewis, A 6-9 senior center has a ceiling worth of potential as he can score at all three levels with confidence. He is bouncy on the defensive end as he uses a ton of length whether it’s blocking shots or his high-percentage rebounding. On the offensive end, Lewis plays with an aggressive edge finishing on the attack whether it’s his high-level dunking or scoring off the catch. He has also continued to improve his footwork and handles when he has the basketball in his hands. Lookout for Lewis to have a big senior season this year as he has some growth in his game to become an elite college prospect.
Carter Hankerson, A 6-8 senior center uses his big frame to his advantage and can push the basketball up the floor exceptionally well for his size. On the offensive end, Hankerson adds a ton of versatility where he can score in a variety of ways whether it’s his back to the basket or scoring off the bounce. On the defensive end, Hankerson can be viewed as an elite shot blocker and rebounder using a ton of length.
