Continue ReadingGreenforest moves forward into the post Manyiel-Chol era but one thing they’ll certainly be able to count on this year is the impact of Elijah Lewis Elijah Lewis 6’0″ | CG Greenforest | 2024 State GA . It’d be hard to find many players in the state that play as hard as Lewis. He’s got electric speed and his defensive pressure can often scramble the brains of an offense. Offensively, Lewis is always gonna find his points whether it be transition finishes, perimeter jumpers, or points from the line. He’ll be the engine that powers this Greenforest team as they look to get back on top.
Jarvis Wright Jarvis Wright 6’0″ | CG Ware County | 2025 State GA returns for his junior year at Charlton County looking to recreate the magic from last year’s state championship run, much of which he was responsible for. Wright is an excellent three-point shooter and when he gets hot, it can be a long night for the opposing team. His scoring arsenal has expanded tremendously this offseason and I think we’ll see a more complete player in year 3. Jarvis Wright Jarvis Wright 6’0″ | CG Ware County | 2025 State GA is one of the top talents coming out of South Georgia and he’ll have the opportunity to prove it this season with Charlton County.
Two-sport stud Elijah Coleman Elijah Coleman 5’11” | PG Portal | 2024 State GA already holds a number of football offers but that won’t stop him from competing for a state championship on the hardwood. Coleman is a smaller guard but what he lacks in height, he makes up for with strength and athleticism. He’s terrific on the defensive end and competes hard on the glass. Offensively, Coleman constantly pressures the rim and will punish defenses that fail to stop the ball. With Coleman running the point and other key players returning, Portal enters the ’23-’24 season as one of the top teams in 1A-D2.
Jax Abernathy Jax Abernathy 6’4″ | SG Christian Heritage | 2024 State GA has put together quite the high school career at Christian Heritage and we have high expectations this year as he’ll contend for a state championship once again. Abernathy is a big guard that can score in bunches. He’s a tremendous finisher at the rim and when defenses begin to collapse, Abernathy’s passing insticts shine. Combine that with his tough shotmaking ability and there’s very few ways to slow him down. Abernathy committed to Trevecca Nazarene earlier this week.
Greenforest’s frontcourt will look a bit different this year without Gai Chol and DK Manyiel but Daniel Daramola Daniel Daramola 6’8″ | PF Greenforest | 2025 State GA is more than capable of leading them back to a championship. Daramola is very skilled and coordinated for his size, extremely mobile too. We’ve seen the jumpshot grow more consistent over the past year and he’s comfortable stepping out to the perimeter. He excels on the defensive end, able to block shots, rebound, and guard multiple positions. Daramola certainly has an opportunity to be one of this season’s breakout stars.
